Hey ladies, does anyone here claim Mat allowance via the government? I've just started back at work with a BFP and don't think I'll have been here long enough to get stat Mat pay or work mat pay so just started looking into whether I'd be eligible for this x

You may be able to get it if in the 66 weeks before your baby's due: you were employed for at least 26 weeks. you were earning £30 or more a week for at least 13 of those weeks - they don't have to be together.

So by the sounds if you work 26 weeks before you take maternity leave then you may be eligable. how many weeks are you now and when would you want to start maternity leave?

Thanks for this redbear. I'm about 6 weeks now and would probably start leave by the end of October if not before (due date end of Nov).

It's tricky because my employer ask for 26wks continuous service by 15wks before expected due date. I've been off on unpaid special leave so not sure if they include that as part of service or not. Obviously can't ask until I tell them I'm PG!

According to that MAS site I might get it I think? I'll have been working over 26 wks up to my due date.

Yeah it says before due date so you should be good to go. I'd ring citizens advice if you really get stuck xx
