Maternity Allowance Decision

They gave it to me!

I recently registered as self employed so am no longer eligible for SMP. I applied for Mat Allowance thinking that I might be in with a chance and they awarded it to me! Im dead chuffed

I wasnt eligible for anything when I was pregnant with Rosie because my contributions were not high enough due to me being out of the country for 2 years so we will really notice this amount every week

I'm wondering if it's something I can apply for. I only work 10 hours a week so don't think I'll be eligible for Smp. What do they base the payments on and how do I apply for either? Have I got to apply for Smp first (how do I get the forms?) and if that's declined, maternity allowance? Sorry for the questions! Am a little confused! Lol

Thats great helen, every little helps! Did they write to you and tell you? How long did it take them? I sent my forms off a few weeks ago. I'm sure I will get it but need the piece of mind x

Erin it took about 4 weeks in total; I was just about to contact them when they sent me notice in the post - I had to send pay slips from my test period and also my small earnings exemption certificate and MatB1 xx
