Mastitis :(

Determined not to stop breast feeding! We over come tongue tie at the beginning and what felt like constant feeding for a month. Just when I thought we've nearly made 6 months, my breast was sore yesterday.
Woke up last night with a fever and achy all over, my breast is so sore I want to cry!! Went to docs and put me on penicillin for mastitis. She said to continue to feed on sore breast, I'm trying to but it hurts a lot!!
Any tips much appreciated to help reduce redness and pain, thanks

Argh poor you! Mastitis is so so horrible. Put some warm flannels on the affected boob, gently massage in circular motions down to nipple & just feed feed feed on that side. I think by the 2nd or 3rd anti biotic I was feeling lots better. Hang in there, they'll kick in soon but try those things! Xx

I had it so badly and if you can try filling the sink with warm water and leaning over with your breast in the water, I know sounds weird, but it helps and massage the sore bit too, or sit in the bath and lean forward massaging, the warmer the better, the antibiotics will kick in soon

The flannel helped soothe it a little. Thankfully the tablets kicked in by 2nd day, hopefully I won't get it again!!
