Madonna's Adoption.

So is anyone following this in the news?

Now she's being challenged by the welfare people over in Malawi becuase it's the law over there that you have to live in the country first and she's been given special treatment so she apparently doesn't have to.

This case is weird because the child does have family, my OH told me yesterday that now the family are saying they want to travel over here to see where David will be staying.

If madonna really does care about this child why does she not give some of her millions of pounds to the parents to help raise the child.
Why does she want to take the child out of its native land aways from its parents.

took the words right out of my mouth, i agree 100%- if he was a genuine orphan then it would be so bad but as you say she could just help his family take care of him.

she may be able to give him everything material but surley a little boy who has lost one mum doesnt need another who is away for weeks/months on end on tour etc! he needs stability!

She has donated money and the dad has agreed, and I have no problem with adoption, celebrity or not, but I just feel it's becomming a bit of a 'fashionable' thing to do. It takes years and lots of hard work for a 'normal' person in the UK to adopt, why should she be able to swan over there, hand over $3million dollars and say "I'll have that one" without going through the same stress and hard work?

i always respected people that adopt from other contries and really respect the parents of the child for going through the heart ache of giving up the child for the child to have a better life.

but now after budge saying that its realy made me think..... why not just give the family money?

with all the money those celbrities have they could afford to maintain an orphanage and pay for people to take care of their own in their own land.

Apparently the dad had agreed but there's some question over whether he understands the process or not. If that sounds patronising it's not meant to, but it may not be in the authorities interests to make it clear to the poor bloke if they're somehow getting money for his son.

Madonna is resident in the UK and US. I agree with Budge, if it's just a genuine adoption she's after, there's enough orphans living below the poverty line here she could adopt.

i agree sami - i dont mind her adopting a child at all its just feel that the family are stuck between a rock and a hard place. if they had enough money and support they could raise the child temselves. they are probably judt doing it to give him a better life - he could have that with his family if she helped them.

you are so right about how long it takes over here - a lot of that is to prepare the child - shouldnt she have to let the child get to know her, her kids and husband?

she could just fund the family to support the child... but then again she might not trust the parent(s) with the money...

and as a black person/woman/mom to be... i dont feel comfy with these celebrities... going off to foreign lands and buying a child.. esp one which is a different race.... and culture to them....

a child needs to know about who he/she is... and where their from...

they need to connect with their parents about problems they probably will face in life..

even if someone like oprah was to adopt a child from malawi.. she still dont know how to identify with the childs background...

but atleast they have one thing in common.

why cudnt madonna adopt a child in britain or america...?

madonna is a celeb yes... but we dont know every single step shes made...

why couldnt she do this in private...

i disgareed from day one angelina jolie is a bloody idiot and really pees me off with her waking up one morning and thinking i'm gonna get me another baby, spins the globe and then points to ..... there.

Now madonna is at it, it is obvious the baby will be an accessory to have on the hip for a few months and then handed over to the nanny or pa or ohoever else is conveniant. What about Lourdes and Rocko, they are her natural children and now mummy is off in another country spending time trying to buy a baby. What about all the poor little mites in this country that need adopting and taking from domestic abuse and child cruelty? they need a home too, but of course that isn't fasionable to get a boring old brit is it.

Another thing that annoys me is my friend who is unsable to have children is a teacher and desperately wanted them so went through the adoption process and was told she was too old - mid 40's to adopt a baby. A TEACHER with a respectable job who would have loved that baby like no other. I expect t would have been different if she had been a millionaire with a stupid name.

If she wants to do a good thing, I say save 30 babies and build an orphanage rather than just one - now that is far more noble.

A baby is for life not just for this season. gggrrrrrr

what about these kids you hear about every day in britain....

i know ppl in other countries need help too..

i tell you what she could do if she wants to save a child, give the money to a couple in britain who are desperate for children and then they can adopt the baby and have the financial back up to do so and give it a tour less paparazzi less stalker less home. If she doesn't trust the couple find one she does trust from the adoption place that have done checks. Now that is a good thing.

Oh, and another thing, Guy Ritchie doesn't agree with it!! What does that say? She is probably going to bring the baby home to animosity between "mum" and "dad".

My mum is a foster carer. It's a very rewarding job.

When I saw the title of this post I wasnt going to look at it cos I thought everyone would be saying how nice it was of Madonna to do it and I didnt want to break the mould and disagree.

I completely agree with everything thats been said, it isnt about wanting to give a child a home, its all about the media attention
