madi never seems hungry :(

i started weaning madi at around 5 months but even since then shes just not really been intrested in anything

so i stopped weaning madi for 2 weeks cause she was drinking max of 5oz (most were 3 oz!)

so 2 days ago i started on 1 meal a day (how much should she have)

plus she has 5 bottles a day (struggles to have 5oz)

but she dont seem intrested in anything (apart from banana lol)

please help

Hi Hev, I think this is where you need to account for the weeks Madi was early. Her digestive system will be at the same age of maturity as it would have been if she had been born on her due date. My HV warned me that this may happen with Leorah as she was 3 weeks early. Have you thought about baby lead weaning? We have a whole thread going and then you will be sure you are weaning when Madi is ready not when the HV or a textbook says she should be. The beauty is that you let you LO decide when they are ready for solids and there is evidence they will only do this when they are emotionally and developementally ready for it. Some babies don't really start taking solids until around a year.

Leorah also has 5 feeds a day but I don't know how much 'cos I am BF. She has started self feeding but it's mainly about tasting and experimenting so its not really filling her up as such. As long as they are drinking their milk, putting on weight, have the right nappies etc then all is ok and maybe just wait a few weeks before trying again.

I bet very soon you will be posting pics of Madi with all sorts of stuff smeared around her chops

my HV told me different. i was told that weaning Dior at 6 months wouldnt be like weaning a 5 month old child as it goes from when they first started having milk not the day they were born. its on the weaning leflet on bliss website
Hev Harley was only having 1 meal a day till he was about 7 months xxx

BLW is wher you delay giving solids until around 6 months and by this time there is no need to feed purees as baby can feed thmselves.
