The name Cormac works for me, can be shortened to Mac then.
I've known a couple of men over the years called Mac, but it was not their first name. They were Macsomething in their surname and people simply shortened it down and it became their nickname.
Mac actually means 'son of' in Scottish and is the surname side of things from what I just read
The boy's name Mac \mac\ is pronounced mak. It is of Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "son of". Scottish and Irish surname prefix used as a given name or nickname. Mack is an ancient Scottish given name. See also Mackenzie, Maxwell, and Mc-.
Mac has 4 variant forms: Mack, Mackey, Mackie and Macklin.
