I have only just become newly prego and told my folkes straight away, but I feel so overwhelmed atm...

I know i should be excited which i am but i just want to have the scan to know everything is ok and get past the three months...

he doctor barely gave me any info!! IM new the this and he only told me the midwife would be in contact? When will this be? Whne is my first scan these are questions i want to know...

Also my tummy feels funny not hurting but it feels like my how it feels when a period is going to come.

Can ppl reccomend books to me so i can read a having a baby for dummies book or something :rotfl:

Thanks again...

Also is it natural to feel this emptional so early on? and gwad my boobies ache!!

x

u get ur first scan around 12 weeks, if its a low-risk pregnancy (no previous m/c's, etc) i saw the MW first at 11 weeks, but u dont need to see them that often until after about 20 weeks i think.

baby books- u should get one of these with ur maternity pack which they give u around 12 weeks too. its a green & purple one everyone gets it with they maternity notes.

my tummy felt like period pain too; i didnt even test til i was 6 weeks gone as convinced period was about to start!

hope i'v helped

Best book I've found is The New Pregnancy & Childbirth: Choices and Challenges by Sheila Kitzinger. You can get it from Amazon fairly cheaply I think. I bought it from a local cheap bookshop for £10. Got all sorts of info in it and she comes across as really friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

Sharne, people telling you to try not to worry is easy - it's not worrying that's hard. I feel exactly the same way as you. This is also my first baby and I went to the Drs yesterday to register it and the Dr was rubbish.

Last night at 7pm the midwife called me and we booked an appointment so I feel happier now.

The pains you are feeling are fine. They are stretching pains - where things are starting to pull and move. I have them too :)

its all normal hun! i know what ist like waiting for you scan i finally got my appointment week b4 last and its going soo slow! you'll be fine and we're all here for support if u need us, try to enjoy it, 9 months might seem like ages but it'll be gone b4 you know it!

hi and welcome sharne,
all these feelings are perfectly normal. things will start to feel a bit more real when u get apointments with midwifes etc, before then it all seems a bit empty and not quite real. u will be joining our march club yay! :cheer:
there are loads of sites on the internet which give really good advice if u are pregnant so have a hunt around and im sure u will find out everything u need to know.
If theres anything ur not sure on then just ask us lot we're here to help!

Thanks everyone for the posts and support... Feeling majorly low today don't know why...

I had a tendancy to get depressed before i was preggo so hoping its not going to be too bad during...

i might also feel a bit low because i was supposed to be planning a wedding for next August or so and now im unsure what I should do im really confused :(

Sorry to hear you;re feeling low today Sharne. You need to remember that your hormones are going haywire at the moment too. I don't FEEL hormonal right now, but I probably am.

Try to stay positive about everything. I think that's all that gets us through these first few weeks to be honest.

We're all here for each other too so if you need to ask anything - ask away. We all ask silly questions too as most of us here are new to pregnancy. You should perhaps get yourself some good books and if possible, speak to your Mum or a sister/close friend if you can.
