hello ladies ,
how did u get a look round ur labour ward did ur midwife arrange it ? x

I got a look, was told by midwife to phone labour ward and ask for a tour. They run them on the weekend and a few other couples were also on the tour.

oh rite will ask my midwife about it when i see her

My hospital runs tours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm - you just turn up apparently. It's on my to-do list :D

I never understood actually why is that suppose to be useful or helpful? I am sure I will find my way there or mw will help me with whatever I need? Not that I will care much while I am in pain anyway lol...
What are you hoping to see there and how that will help you?
Hmm sorry this sounds quite harsh I really don't mean it I am just curious why those tours exist and how they can help us. I mean you don't go for a tour at the hospital when you have a planned surgery...

I didn't know they did that all I think it might be quite nice to be fair. Just to know your surroundings and see if any ladies are in labor hhehe, real life action :D

The hospital stopped the tours, the last one was the one before I was due to go on...
I have liked to gone.
Reason I of liked to go was I have never been into the maternity unit (except my scan, but that was a seperate area)
I think it would be good to be familiar with your surroundings, see the room. They show you the midwife lead unit and also the medical side. The rooms you will be in and also the garden. I think there a great idea if your not used to a hospital environment. And also where to go, cause if you go up during the day you go in the normal entrance, but if it's out of hour you have to go and be met by security at the back entrance.

For mine it's a case of if things happen in the middle of the night - the front entrance of the maternity place isn't open, so they show you where to go instead and what to do. But it'll be nice to see the midwife led unit where I'll hopefully be going and the birthing pools and such. I'm just curious, and figure the fewer surprises on the day, the better :D.

I suppose being a doctor is no surprise or pleasant lol for me to visit the hospital one more time :faint:
About the entrance if needed I am sure people will point me the screaming lady in the right direction when I go there lol!!!

I would like to go just to know where I am going on the big day !and have a picture of things in my head

I want to know what it's going to be like on there before it happens. I just think it's nice to familiarise yourself with it x

Yeah I wanted to see it, for the reasons everyone has said, but also I feel like I'll feel a bit more relaxed if I know exactly what the place looks like etc

Our hospital stopped them because of health and safety! not that I'm to fussed with seeing it. x

Using tapatalk so excuse the typos!

Apparently our local hospital stopped them during the swine flu outbreak (fair enough) and decided not to restart them again afterwards.

I would have liked to go and see the one here, partly so that I know my way around and don't panic that we'll get lost, and partly because I'm very lucky and have never had to go into hospital for anything more than an x-ray (when I was two) and to get braces for my teeth (when I was a teenager)... so I'm really quite terrified and have no idea what to expect at all :? Apparently some of the delivery rooms here don't even have windows, which I really do not like the sound of :(

I can see your point if you know the hospital :) x

I wouldn't like to not have a window, I think I'd overheat!! x

I'd hate to not have a window... Like cabin fever...!!!xx

I had to phone the antenatal unit and book in directly. Ours is next week x

For me personally I think it would be nice to be familiar with my surroundings. Plus I would like to decide between the main maternity unit and the MW led unit (same building just down the hall). Hubby wants to know where exactly to take me.

That's what I thought when my MW mentioned it! Hospitals are normally pretty warm, and towards the end of July it could easily be really hot (although the way the weather is now I guess this might not be a problem!) - and you could be stuck in there for a really long time :(
