I bloody hate them all!!

Weve just got a letter off ours saying about a final inspection and a guide to leaving the property. Im sooo mad, there right money grabbing BEEPS!
If we dont cancel our direct debit they'll take 10% of the money  also if we leave a piece of furniture out of place then theyll charge us, aparently theyll hire a company to move it WTF what a load of crap. So if we leave a spoon on the settee theyll get a guy in to move it

If we dont get the keys to them before 12 theyll also charge us £50 plus VAT... i wonder what excuse theyll have when we hand them in on time. I dont think for a second we'll get all of our money back even though the house is in better condition now than when we moved in.

I HATE renting :x

ditto!

its only been three 3 years we have been waiting for them to replace our rotten window frames. they replaced the door, but it has such a huge gap under it it gets so cold in our kitchen!! they have said that the trades people have done a good job  they won't pay for someone else to come out and have a look at it.

But, saying that, its not all landlords / letting agents. there are some good ones around!!!!

i hate our letting agents they have been nothing but knobs to us we went in to ask one day about geting our electrics fixed as we had no lights in the kitchen and the manager said she was sick of us harassing them  we leave at the end of april though

Yeah Letting agencies suck. When I moved out of my flat they tried to charge me for all sorts. Luckily I was on good terms with the person who moved in after me and I went round to see if the things they said they had replaced had actually been done... surprise surprise they hadn't! I went back and complained and after a long drawn out process I eventually got some of my deposit back. It just really annoys me that if I had not gone back and seen the evidence for myself then I would have just let it go and they would get all that money off innocent people, grrrrr!!! :x

   this will be the first time I have ever rented through an agency an I'm not looking forward to it :(

i have found it takes longer to get anything done - we speak to the letting agent, who then speaks to the person who owns the property. :x

emma hun, when you moving?

We're waiting on the letting agency doing the credit check...whick I think we will likely fail tbh...but if all goes well next weekend.

We managed to sell the carpets to the people moving in here though so thats something.

cool! i was thinking about you the other day - i walked into my bathroom, looked at my floor and wondered if my landlord would pay for our flooring when we moved out. then wondered if you had sold yours!

got all my fingers and toes crossed for you!!

jenna, when you moving?

Are you thinking of moving Sam??

I asked our landlords if they were interested in buying our carpets etc, but they said they were not charging the new people rent, (tied house) so they were not bothered if it was carpeted or not.

We were lucky really, in that at least.

need to. we are in a tiny one bed place. what with every thing that has happend to us over the last year, moving has been at the bottom of the list.

We need a 2 bed place as it just isn't fair on alice, but we have bugger all money, loads of debts (old credit cards and the like), and OH is self employed, so we don't have his fixed income (im employed full time though). I keep saying we should go on the council list, but the only places they would offer is a tower block flat, and OH is very anti this idea.

sorry jenna, kinda taken over your thread

Just wanted to say that I have dealt with other letting agencies and they are not all bad. Feel bad for worrying you Emma  Just make sure you are firm with them, I'm sure you will be fine :D

It's ok Chelle, I'm just worrying about everything atm

Sam, some people were telling me that if you have good references then they don't mind so much about your poor credit history..I hope this is true. Ikwym about the money though....I had to sell the carpets to get the £ we needed to move.

I've just gotta :rotfl: or I'd

I'm with your DH about the council list too, they always offer you where you wouldn't wanna be when you have children. It just doesn't seem to be at all like it used to be. I know people in nice council houses but they have lived in them years.

It really makes me want to save every penny for Jonah and Abigail so they don't have to struggle like this when they are older.

We'll get sorted though, both of us. You and me, we'll find perfect houses in gorgeous areas near wonderful schools...and fill them FULL of babies :cheer:

Yeh sorry Jenna  Hope your move goes well
