Hi ladies, my husband and I have had numerous tests following 5 early miscarriages. Our usual hospital has now said they can do no more for us so have referred us to Prof Lesley Reagan’s clinic at St Mary’s. I am unsure what else they can do that our usual hospital can’t. Have had numerous scans, blood tests, etc etc and all come back ok. Any experiences?? TIA xx

There are a few tests that they need specific equipment for. They might want you to get a DQ Alpha gene test, which apparently can't be done at many places. My friend had it done after having 5 or 6 miscarriages and turned out her husband and her were a match. It meant her body was killing all the embryos because it thought they were cancer. Tim and Celeste on YouTube have a similar story, you should check them out. If the hospital doesn't want you to do it, you should ask about it. Good luck :)

Hey Qwerty, I have just started seeing dr rai who works under professor Reagan, their clinic is said to be one of the best in Europe for recurrent miscarriage. They do some tests there that they don’t do in other places. Not sure what you have already been tested for but they do something called the TEG test which I think only they do.

I’ve had some tests on the nhs, but dr rai has done a few extra tests, like I didn’t have mthfr done on the nhs but dr rai is testing for that. He’s also referred me for a saline 3d scan to check the uterine cavity, not sure if you’ve had anything like that done before?

He also picked up on some things from my previous blood tests that my other hospital hadn’t picked up on.

It may be worth going to see professor Reagan and just see if they can offer you anything differently.

Hope that helps xx

I am sorry to know yr story? Have you checked out genetics (karyotyping tests) and immune issues?

Hi girls.

Yes had the karyotyping done, loads of bloods (both of us), uterine scans, testing of placental tissue from last miscarriage etc and nothing found. Is the stuff Dr Rai doing above on the nhs or privately? So frustrating that things take so long and don’t feel like we are getting anywhere! Xx

Hi , I've had 6 Mc, And am currently pregnant, I've had 3 scans and so far everything is looking okay... Touch wood!
I had all the tests and bloods and everything came back normal, But this time as soon as I got my BFP I demanded that I get put on progesterone. Plus I started on 75mg of aspirin
I don't know if thats what helped this time but So far its working.... Hopefully!
Either way I really hope you get answers!
I wish you all the luck and rainbow dust <3

I’m seeing dr rai privately as unfortunately not had good treatment on the nhs, but I’ve read lots of stuff on other forums about professor Reagan’s clinic and I’m sure they do the TEG test as standard whether on the nhs or privately. It might be worth you going along to their clinic just in case they have anything else to offer you. I’m so sorry you’re having such a tough journey and I really hope you get some answers soon xx

Hi all, can I jump on here too! I am being referred also I think to St Marys and I just wondered what the waiting times are like for the first consultation?

Hi 1sttimer, sorry to hear about your losses. I had to wait about 2 weeks to see Mr Rai, but I’ve been seeing him privately, I’m not too sure what the NHS wait to see him or professor Reagan is, but they are so knowledgeable and so lovely, I really hope they can help you with your journey xx

Yes had the karyotyping done
if karyotype is normal, then genetics is not the issue, that is good news for you.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can help - I am 'suppposed' and I use that term loosely to be being referred to the Rec MC specialists (hopefully st. marys) but so far have been to my GP who referred me to Gynea at my local hospital and all are looking blankly at me like they have no idea what I'm talking about - none of them seem to know about referring to a recurrent miscarriage clinic! How on earth (without going privately) do I get the referral!?? Does anyone know, as it appears I am dealing with medical professionals without an **** clue! I even sent them a link to the Tommys website that clearly explains that a GP has to do it and yet still they have palmed me off to my local hospital...I'm at the end of my tether with all of this!... and breathe ;o) x

1sttimer I had to go to a few different gps and then a different practice to get taken seriously before my daughter. I’d book another appt with a diff gp for sure cx

Thanks so much millielaura, at least it's not just me!! I thought I was going mad! I'm, waiting for a call from them as we speak and am also in the process of putting in a formal complaint to the last one - I actually sent them all the information online that gives the GP the instructions on how to refer and the criteria and they still sent me to Gynea and my local hospital..it's just madness!!

Also, Millielaura, do you mind me asking your story? Did you get investigated and have treatment for daughter in the end? x

Now I'm really confused - my GP said they will refer me (apologies for the mistake blah blah blah) but referred me to Guys and St Thomas's in London not st marys - I just rang them back to check whether that was right as I was expecting st marys and they changed it and now it says there are no appointments at st marys when I go online with the 'choose and book' system? I am literally ready to crack I could cry x
