Who does? I usually leave the landing light on when we go out so you can see the glow from it out of the front door.

Lots of people I know don't, but my mum and dad always have done so I guess I'm just used to doing it!

I do!! I leave a small lamp on. I know I will probably get shot down by some for doing it for energy reasons, but I would rather leave a light on than come home to a trashed house cause someone has seen the darkness and broken in

i dont, i think if your going out really late, they may know what your up to

We do if I remember, energy costs are probably not even significant in terms of pence and therefore energy units used or whatever. As previously said, would rather a burglar thought I was in than knew I wasn't.

I leave the hall light on when i go out, just so i can see when i walk in, i hate walking into the dark

We leave a few lights on and the tv if we are out for the evening.

does it make you wonder though that if you have an early night and turn all the lights off that a burglar might think there's no one home?

I have my light in my lounge on a timer and it is set to a different time each night so there is no routine!!

I never leave 1 on. Unless i nip out at night when OH is out. Coz i'm a wimp and get freaked out easy!

We normal leave the hall light on for when i come back home, hate walking into a dark house.
At night we have to leave the bathroom light on all night anyway or Harrison screams the house down and wont go and pee in the night.

We're not "allowed" to leave lights on  my parents used to all the time but now my dads become obsessive, a few times i've found he's come in and turned the TV off whilst i've been getting a drink.

Dave was better but even he's recently started paying attention to lights and things on standby.

It's ok cos i make up for it by having my laptop on ALL day and usually either a TV or the radio, oh and having a nice long bath or shower  I'm not very energy aware, i cant reach the plug for my strighteners so they're left plugged in 24/7, as is the hairdrier phone charger and laptop charger, but i cant get down to unplug them

We don't because we don't generally stay out till late but we also live in a flat and you cannot get in unless someone lets you but my Mum leaves the kitchen light on and the radio when she goes out all day but always leaves the radio on because apparently its good for cats and she has 3 lol.

I usually leave a couple on. It changes each time I go out but usually I leave the hall and either the dining room or livingroom lights on. Mum always left lights on when she went out and I've just followed. x

We always leave the sitting room light on low (its on a dimmer) cause we both dont like coming into a dark house....

ooo we do this too!
Usually a low light in the lounge or the landing light!

we dont as we live in a fist floor flat and theres not much point. My mum does all the time coz it looks like someone is in, she used to leave the radio on as well as she got burguled once before i was born and she reakoned that if they heard the radio they would think that there was someone there so they wouldnt burrgle her?, she dosent know though but she does still leave the hallway light on.

I always do, more so for the dog than anything but also for security.

Exactly! My Dads house was robbed while they were all in bed at night, and attempted burglary at breakfast one morning but he caught the guy and pinned him down! Plus his car got stolen at that house too....wasn't a bad area just the fact it was the first house in the street with eay get away route.

When I lived with my Mum, our house was also robbed...at around 3.30pm in the afternoon!! They took my brothers birthday presents, our students suitcase and money, my stereo, computer, all sorts and that was just off a main busy road with people walking by the schools either side picking their kids up!
