Anjali has recently started lunging forward into crawling position, but ends up falling flat on her face and yelling to be picked back up. How long is it normally from this point until they can crawl about, or does it vary a lot?

After so many months of leaving her contentedly to sit for hours and not fall, its getting to be a pain picking her up every 2 minutes!!

I posted a similar thread a while back.....its so frustrating watching them get cross cos they cant get moving....I think it was about 3 weeks of rocking on her hands and knees before she took her first 'steps' - now she is soooooo fast!

OH did practice with her, not sure how much it helped Eva but it was quite entertaining for me watching him crawl round the house demonstrating lol :rotfl:

Layla did this for about 2 wks and then took a few shaky steps forward, by day 3 of crawling she was zooming around like a maniac! Once they start though you start wishing they hadn't...things get a lot more...active

I'd also say it was about 3 weeks :)

She learnt to 'sit herself back up' though first - which was a lifesaver I tell you! I was sick of picking her back up all the time like you are....

Everyone kept saying it won't be long now, then just one day I was doing something and realised she was next to me! haha, I moved her back to where she was, and she crawled to me.

So funny how one day they can't do something, and the next they can.

ABout 5 weeks I think as I have a lazybones! She did exactly as you described forever, it was so frustrating picking her up constantly!

oh dear looks like ive got trouble ahead then :rotfl:

oh that drove me crazy. Sitting for 30 seconds then going forward to crawl, face plant, crying until she is picked up and does it again. No attempt to move or sit up by herself, just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
2 weeks and then she got it.

We had a couple of weeks of head on the floor bum in the air - then all of a sudden she started to shuffle backwards... then 3days later she was flying round the house crawling. Its amazing from going backwards a few steps they suddenly fly forward

It's taken her about 3/4 weeks to figure out how to move all parts of her body enough to crawl, but only 3 days from first figuring it out to being able to cruise the room with ease.

It is frustrating for you and them when they want to do something but just cant quite manage, she'll love it when she eventually manages it though, you just have to keep encouraging her and praising any attempts. DD was doing a kind of mini forward roll in her attempts which was pretty scary.
