Hi, I've got my lap date through for 26th march and I'm wondering how long I will need my hubby to take off work to look after our 4 year old afterwards? The 26th is a Wednesday, do you think he'll be ok to leave me the following Monday? Xx

Hi Dee,

So glad you haven't got a long wait. Recovery time all depends on what you had done during the op really. My op was on a Tuesday, I booked the rest of the week off work, and then needed the Monday too. I actually could have done with that whole week off too but prob would have managed being at home with son after the Monday. I had endo removed and was on some delicate places so obv quite painful for a while after but the first 4-5 days were the worst due to the gas they use and the tenderness x

Thanks lisey, that makes sense, I guess I'll play it by ear in case I need the tube removed or what not, I think hubby will just take a whole week off. I actually feel quite relieved to be having it now, I've had so many fears since the infection giving birth that at least I'll know now exactly what's going on in there xx

I was eager to have mine done, its the best way to know exactly what's going on in there. It is uncomfortable and painful after but it has done wonders for me so far in regards to pain at AF and Ov time so I am so grateful I was able to get it done xx

I had mine done on a Monday and was sore for a few days. You just feel like you've over done it on the sit-ups. I also had some discomfort between my shoulder blades because of the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. It heals really well though and you cannot see anything. The lower incision is actually minute! Only a few mm, and is low in bikini area.

I actually took two weeks off work. I was going to go back after the one week but I'm so glad i didn't as when back after the two weeks I still felt a little tender whilst bending and lifting as I have an office job. I think you would be ok with your daughter by the following week though. I just decided to take it easy.

Good luck x

I had 2 weeks off of work and needed it, the pain was fine whilst resting but standing straight and too much movement was sore. I had three incisions one in belly button and one either side, had endometriosis excised and dye test.

Good luck xx

Thanks girls, sounds like it all depends what I have done, I've told work I may be off the second week and they've been fine so will play if by ear. I don't want my recovery to be prolonged and hold up starting IVF so will be sensible about it xx

I had mine done on a Monday and hubby went back to work on Thursday.
He was planning on having just 2 days off but soon realised by Tues eve that I still needed him to help me get up and sit down etc.
I did have additional surgery though so that could have been why.
I was off work for 2 weeks but did feel a lot better by mid way through the second week.
Just take it easy as even though it's key hole it's still major surgery.
xx

Hi dee I def didn't take it easy enough after my lap - was shopping at ikea the Sunday after the lap, which was on the Wednesday and ended up in hospital that night as my belly button wound was really bleeding and my stomach was so swollen. I'd say a week at least I think I had help for about that long with my son. You might need more tho depending on what they do. Best of luck, I have been popping into your journal from time to time to see how you are getting on xx

Thank you xx that's very helpful, did you have anything done as part of the procedure? I will certainly take it easy, nancy is quite a cuddly carry heavy 4 year old now so expect hubby will end up taking the following Monday off too, I want to recover quickly to crack on with ttc ASAP xx

No mine was just investigative as they didn't find anything. I was surprised at how long it took to be ok, thought it would just be a bit sore for a few days. Also the shoulder tip pain after was pretty sore, be prepared! Xxx

Gawd, not looking forward to it at all! X
