im off to lancashire for a week on saturday.
is there anyone from around there?
what is there to do there? any nice beaches to recommend?

thanks in advance :D

I'm here :cheer:

Blackpool beach is apparently rather splendid now (it used to be a bit grotty but over the past few years it's been cleaned up).

Whereabouts are you going?

oooooo I don't know much about Morecambe, sorry ... don't they have a big funfair there though, is it Frontierland or something? Don't know about the beaches though

im from lancashire... dont go morecambe!!
its just pebbles and sand worms!
blackpools not brilliant either... its lots of fun but not very clean.
best bet is probably fleetwood or st annes

We used to get left in the outdoor swimming pool in morcambe in the rain when I was a kid

oh fook ing hell kimbo!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'd agree with Kimbo and say that St Annes beach is much nicer than Blackpool - it's very flat, absolutely huuuugge and goes on forever (left, right and out towards the sea) and there's also loads of nice soft sand to play with when you first get on the beach near the sand dunes. Lots of little water pools and rivulets dotted around when you get further down towards the sea too :D

i have just come back from blackpool and did not go on the beach as when the tide is in it comes right in and is really rouch and u cant even see the beach also they are building the flood defences so it is really grotty. When the tide goes out the whole beach is that wet u cant sit down. but the pleasure beach is great but expensive.

Lol, blackpool avoid it as much as possible same with morecambe the cockle pickers thing! Lytham St annes is nice, same with Southport ohh and fleetwood is rather nice to!! :cheer:

I'm from Morecambe and it's a pile of poo :rotfl:

The main beaches are crap but there's a great safe beach a couple of miles down the road that's always desserted - miles and miles of sand that you can take the car onto. Dead good digging sand and the tide never comes in (but you have a two mile walk to get water to fill up the moats)!!!

The big fairground went years ago, but there's a diddy little one on the prom. Apart from that, there's really not much else - even the shops are rubbish.

The prom is really good for bike rides and long walks. Happy Mount Park is pretty good.

Does make for cheap days out though - cos there's nothing to spend your money on.

Lancaster is good if you like museums and stuff like that. There's also a humongous park in Lancaster. Avoid going to Lancaster during rush hours though - a ten minute drive turns into a two hour drive.

its not actually morcambe we are going to. Its a place called carnforth (???)

we can travel to where ever we want anyway. we will have fun whatever. We chose lancashire coz we have never been that way. i hope we don't regret it :(

Budge, when you say camping do you mean a tent?

We tried the lake district last w/e in a tent and had to come home after 9 hrs. Was a b!oody nightmare with husband and 1 child. Hats off to you with 4 children and hubby!
