Hello Ladies

I was just wondering if you could help me. How many anovulatory cycles did you have to have before your doctor would consider you for clomid.

I've been only been charing for 3 cycles but 2 out of that 3 have been annovulatory and although i wasn't charting my temperature before that i think most of my cycles before i started charting were anovulatory too (no ovulation pain or other signs and longer than usual cycles - some upto 50+ in length)

I have a few other concerns that something is going on within me that in itself may seem like nothing but its a change from my norm which is what people say to watch out for. I've noticed i have more facial hair than usual. I'm blonde so it is by no means bad and no-one else will probably notice but the hairs on my upper lip have thickened and i have one or two very thick hairs starting to grow out my cheek. My hair is also needing to be washed more frequently (every day) as it gets greasier quicker.

I just have this feeling my hormones aren't where they should be but if a doctor is just going to send me away to wait longer i don't what to bother them but neither do i want to wait another few months to be considered for clomid and then another 6 months for it to work if i know in my heart i'm not ovulating properly now.

How long did you wait?

Hi Bex,

I'm not on clomid but am seeing a fertility specialist and having traetment for loe progesterone. I massively recommend seeing a specilaist to discuss your symptoms and options. My initial consultation was £160 but it was fabulous to see someone taking me seriously and they really do know so much about their subject.

Otherwise speak to your doctor but say you have been trying for 14months with no luck. They tend to send you away if you haven't been trying for a year. your charting plus your symptoms with be valuable evidence so make sure you take your charts along. Also always book an appointment with a different doctor if you need a second opinion.

I wish you all the best. I knew in my heart my problem was progesterone and I turned out to be right. If you feel that strongly you probably know you are right too.

Hi there :D

I'm not currently on clomid, but did conceive using it :D I was diagnosed with PCO (3 months of blood tests showed I was not ovulating, plus scan confirmed PCO) just over a year ago - had been having very long cycles and we had been TTC for about a year. I'm not sure how long the NHS leaves things before they do anything, but we got our GP to refer us to a private consultant. He started me on clomid straight away and we conceived on the 6th cycle.

So, might be worth considering going private if u can.

Well... I'm taking clomid... but since I live in the US... I went straight to the specialist (different health care system) and he put me on it when I told him that my last two cycles were unusually long and I hadn't conceived since my m/c last year... TBH I think if I had walked in there and asked for it he would have prescribed it. Just don't take no for an answer unless they do all the appropriate tests to say that you are in fact ovulating.

Good luck

PM me if you need to!

 I was on clomid, and I went to see my doc last August about cos I hadn't had AF since coming off the pill an May and they done some blood tests for progesterone, follicle stimulating hormone, thyroid, blood sugar and probably other things but I cant remember. Anyway when the tests come back to say I wasn't Ovulating I was given an appointment at the hospital, who took more blood samples and sent me for a scan on my ovaries. My bloods came back looking like I had PCOS (which wasn't a suprise as it runs in the family) but on the scan my ovaries looked normal. So I was given clomid to start when AF came, which I started in February.
It can possibly sound like you have PCOS cos of the hairiness and other symptoms can be irregular periods or lack of periods, irregular ovulation or no ovulation, reduced fertility, difficulty in becoming pregnant, recurrent miscarriages, unwanted facial and or body hair (hirsutism), oily skin, acne, being overweight, rapid weight gain, difficulty in losing weight. Because PCOS affects people in different ways you may not have all the symptoms.
Make an appointment with your GP and tell him/her your concerns and hopefully they should offer you a blood test on day 21 of your cycle to see if you are ovulating. Take a printout of your charts too.
Hope I've helped and good luck
