Hi,

I just wondered if it is normal for a baby of 5 weeks to go without a dirty nappy for a while. April usually produces 2-3 a day, but I haven't had anything from her for 2 days/nights. She has had lots of very wet ones though. Is she constipated? I thought that was rare in BF babies?

Breastfeeding produces such little waste that babies can poo less than formula babies.

I've heard of b/f babies going a week or so between poos!

Saying that, I'd always say that any change of routine for your baby gets checked out with the HV :)

i think i read somewhere that breastfed babies poo several times a day at first, then when they get to around 6 weeks they can start going several days between poos.
i would mention it to the HV anyway

sounds pretty normal to me hon - my hv said not to be surprised if connor went for a up to a week or more without poos... she also said not to expect a routine to them

Ellie goes every 2-3 days and sometimes longer, if shes not uncomfortablr or straining i'd say dont worry :)
