Why is there always one person who always has to tell you what to do and what happenes to "everyone" when pregnant.

What i mean is i have a friend who had a baby last year, and everytime i say something about my pregnancy she has to say "that doesnt happen yet, it wont happen for however long"

I just said i think i have a bit of a bump coming and my trousers no longer fit, her reply was, you dont normally get a bump until you are 5 months, i told her that everyone was differant and again she responded with, i know but i honestly dont know anyone who got one before.

Now i didnt say that i had a massive clearly visable bump, but she is going on as though i have said that and it is everytime i say something she seems to tell me i am wrong and tries to make me feel like i know nothing about pregnancy. I dont want to fall out with her but my fuse is pretty short right now and i dont know how long i am going to be able to hold my tongue for.

Any advice?

ignore her :D

She may think that she is trying to help... maybe your hormones don't help at the mo either

Let it go in one ear and out of the other.

If she doesn't know anyone who had a bump until 5 weeks then she doesn't know tht much herself either!

I agree you should ignore her - to a point. If she feels she is the only expert on pregnancy than chances are she'll be the same about your babies development and theres nothing worse than mums who compare like that!

Or maybe she just thinks shes helping, but either way if it carries on then you will need to have a gentle word in her lughole about it.

Good luck!

I couldn't ignore it ..but thats me...my response would be well you do now...quoting research is also good no matter what her opinion research is fact based quoting that can make a point.

Good luck

She sent me another email saying that maybe i should do some housework cause i am gonna end up being the size of a house at this rate! :x :x

I wrote an email out to reply to her, that as i have had two pregnancies not 1 that i have done quite a lot of research and also that telling me old wives tales like my baby is gonna come out miserable and telling me i should get rid of my cats etc etc is not the kind of support i wanted, But before this i thought i had better warn my mum that i am going to do it because it is my mums best friends daughter who i used to go to school with and i didnt want a big fall out.

Well my mum told me not to send the email and she said she would speak to her mum, so i have left it at that for now. But if it happens again i shall be sending it and knowing her she probably wont speak to me again.

And breath.

Does anyone else seem to have an incredibly short fuse just lately?

Bumps! Someone just asked me how far gone I was - 26 weeks. She looked like I did at 20 weeks, she's actually overdue!! I'm huge in comparison and yes had a bump well before 5 months. Its not just everyone who's different, every pregnancy is too.
