How old were you when your mum started weaning you? We (4 of us) were all 3-4 months (and are still alive  )

yeah i was three months and so was my bro.

I have weaned James at 3 months too (much to the dismay of some on here  ) because he needed it and hes a much happier little fella for it.

Me and my bro were both about 3-4 months and Cameron was about 4 months 2. He was never very happy with milk and took to food very easily

My mum used to top us up with baby rice from the age of about 3 months I think. She breastfed all 4 of us and said by that time we needed it, I'm still alive!

im nt sure but i no even my HV was advised to wean at 4 months about 5 years ago

Erm... immediately :rotfl: Seriously? I didn't have a strong suck, so she basically lost the milk within the first two weeks. That combined with the Caeserain she had (we're talking 1973 Italy, people) didn't help.

3months all four of us, all slept on our stomachs and all had all the foods you get shouted at for mentioning now ie honey nuts ect. and we are all absolutley fine and not one of us has any allergies

me and my brother were weaned between 3 and 4 months, i weaned mine between 3 and 5 months

3 months, and yes I'm alive and ealthy but that still doesn't mean it's right

I was 6 weeks breastfeed and then weaned at 3/4 months. I think most of us would have been weaned then as that was the advice at the time.
I also slept on my front and yes I am still alive!
However cot death has fallen since the back to sleep campaign was introduced. Although I was fine that wasn't the case for all babies.

In 1971, when records of SIDS first started, there were 1,600 deaths a year.

Cot deaths fell massively in 1997 after research from New Zealand found that babies were much safer sleeping on their backs.

i was weaned at 4 months, but MIL seemed to think i should have weaned jack at 6 weeks.. coz thats what she did with her lot

I was weaned at 3 months, and I agree we are alive but now studies show that weaning early can cause stomach and bowel problems later in life, its easy to sit there and say well im ok but im sure 20 other people in your road/cul-de-sac/town or village arent and it could be related.

My mum and MIL can't remember, but were both supportive of us waiting 'til 6 months.

I believe it's a good thing that our LOs can benefit from recent research and will always support later weaning to allow the tummy and other organs and reflexes to mature.
