The back of my house overlooks a park where a lot of people walk their dogs. I was just in the house when I heard a load of shouting and a blood-curdling scream. I went upstairs to look out of the window and there were 2 dogs, one biting and locked onto the other. The Attacking dog was a bull mastif and the other dog was a young collie. The owner of the collie was screaming 'hes dying'. The owner of the mastif was punching and kicking the s**t out of his dog to get him to let go. It went on for about 10 mins. OMG it was scary.

It annoys me so much that people own such vicious dogs and let them run free round a park where kids are playing, no muzzle or training.

Luckily I saw the collie walking away so hopefully it wasnt badly injured.

Its made me think twice about letting Jake run around the park in the future. It has really shaken me up.

god thats terrible, i hate to see dogs running without lead on, especially in a kids park

when a dog is walking down the street now i turn owen slightly away from it just in case.

My sister has a bull masif (sp?) and she is never allowed out without a harness on but she is a docile dog anyway, but my sister knows what some people think of them kind of dogs nowdays. :(

That's terrible

Dogs around kids' park isn't on really - and don't get me started on dog muck

Omg I would have been screaming my head off that sounds awful

bull mastifs suffer from lock jaw, no ideal dog and personally I think they should be banned. Collies are definately not agressive dogs.

The other dog sounds like it should have been muzzled!!!!!!!!!

the thing is, some mastifs are not as bad as others, not a ideal dog at at, but what are people spose to do, kill them all when they are born?

its kinda a weird subject, but i defff think ANY dogs that have been known to bite should jhave muzzles on when they are on walks and that

That's so sad...poor Collie.

I have to say though...I want a bull mastif. They aren't all mean. It depends on how you raise them and socialize them as puppies. They are bred to be protective...not vicous. Some owners just treat them badly and make them mean on purpose...for dog fighting or to have an "attack dog" or whatever.

But now that hubby and I think a baby might be in the future (TTC) we aren't considering getting one - or any new animals for that matter.

I own a Bullmastiff and you have more to worry about from my grandmas yorkshire terrier than you do from Baileys.
Not all Bullmastiffs are vicious dogs. Baileys is very loyal and protective but she is also well trained. People create bad dogs. It really pisses me off to hear people make sweeping generalisations about a breed.

I didnt think I was making a sweeping statement about one particular breed of dog, I only mentioned vicious dogs and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Sorry if thats how you read it
