Hi Ladies,
Just looking for some insight and advice really. My lil munchkin is 1wk2days. We started out bf but I found it difficult and she wouldnt latch. I was getting worked up and stressed and worries I was stressing out Cadie. So last Friday I made the decision to ff. She is actually doing really well and gaining weight.
However, there doesnt seem to be a routine...... Sometimes she will wake every 2-3 hours and have 3oz. Or she will wake between these and have maybe just an oz which she will finish an hour later... I have even had to wake her to feed on 2 occasions because she went nearly 4 hours!
Is this normal and will it sort it self out or do I have to do something?
It may seem like a daft question but im a new mum and would appreciate any experiences etc T.I.A. X
Oh and on a night she has a bottle between the hours 1130-1230 depending but will wake up around 2ish for another feed but will not settle back in her moses basket, even tho she sleeps init thru the day. She usually falls asleep on me and then wakes for a feed between 5-6am......

No idea about exclusively FF babies, hun, but my LO didn't settle into any recognizable pattern til about 8 weeks and even now it's a bit erratic! Keep going and I'm sure you'll spot a pattern eventually. Mine feeds roughly every three hours, but now goes longer for one stretch at night. Her BCG jab has just thrown that out of the window, though! x

I think very young babies patterns can be all over the place and so can their feeding. The fact you can measure formula makes it even more confusing sometimes. Also, some people, including me, think that it's better for babies to sleep somewhere different during the day to at night time.

Wss ^^ my LO is nearly six weeks and we only have a rough pattern to feeding. He's going through a growth spurt at the moment so he's sleeping all the time and just "snacking" when he wakes for 5-10 minutes.

Karen how did you find your LO reacted to BCG? B has got his in 10 days and I'm dreading it.

My little one is ff. he has always been pretty erratic until last few weeks ( he's 7 weeks now) at 4 weeks I had to change his milk to hungry baby as he was hardly going hour and half between feeds but seems to be settling now. At such a young age just do as lo tells u and when they go through their 3-4 week growth spurt u know it as all they seem to do is drink. I had to take my lo out so he didn't literally spend the whole day feeding xxx

I agree I would feed on demand when she's so young. Agree with getting her to sleep somewhere other than where she does at night too at least until she knows the difference between night and day. I usually keep night time very dark and quiet like I don't talk to her just shhing noises to soothe her and then make daytimes bright and noisy.
My LO has only really been in a routine for the last couple of months and she settled into that herself x

Hi Mrs T. She screamed the place down during the vaccination, as you'd expect, because it takes so darned long to squeeze the stuff into their arm, and she was in a bit of a huff afterward. Not nice being held really tightly by two people whilst a third person stabs you in the arm! She was a bit unsettled and didn't sleep for seven hours straight that same day, but slept six and a half hours straight that night, which she's never done before. The next afternoon she also had a super-long nap. Can't be sure how much of this is BCG-related and how much is tummy bug-related. Don't worry, it will be fine. Tilly has a red spot on her arm now. Not looking forward to the swelling, scabs and pus

I managed to get her to sleep in her basket rather than on me last night!!
She did wake at 1:45 and 5:25 for feeding but at least I slept better too!
Im gonna put her somewhere different thru day, or try bit difficult with a dog who always wants to be near her. We do make alot of noise thru day or should say the dog does lol! Cadie even manages to while I vaccum etc!
Lets see what today brings :) x

Ok so i ff from day one...
In the day i put Keira in her bouncer and let her have the whole day in there to sleep, If she didnt wake around ther 4 hr mark i woke her by a bum change and a feed even in the night. In the night she slept in her pram top and if she wouldnt settle after an hour of this i would put her back in her bouncer where she always used to settle just so i could get some sleep.
Our daytimes were always noisy and night times quiet and weve kept this going xxx

at one week she is still only just getting used to the outside world, the moses basket might just be a bit to big and scary in the dark, it is also really early to be getting into a routine, she will soon settle though, keep going with trying to get her into the moses basket, we ended up with a bottle in the moses when T was out of it so it was still snuggly when he went back x

R is ff, he s still quite erratic sometimes depends how unsettled his day has been. I'm hoping when we move we can get some sort of a routine feeding going but I'm not holding my breath :)
