well i went to my midwife appt on friday to be told after waiting 25 mins that the clinic had been cancelled
it was gone half 3 so i couldnt call my midwife and dint want to ring the birth center so waited today to give them a call and see about getting seen was told to come straight down as im 38 weeks tomorrow (ignore ticker i never did get round to changing it).
hubby came with me as hes home from work baby is fine still only 3/5th engaged but for the first time some-one has spoke to me about my home-birth. the midwife was lovely and is coming to my house tomorrow to plan the home-birth, bring out my home-birth kit and catch me up on all the parent class sessions that i missed. so in a way its lucky the clinic was cancelled or id prob still not no anyting about my home-birth or when id get a kit, oh see even chased up my bloods which are fine aswell platlets are really high so im good to go :)
hope everyones had a nice day

great news!

u will have to give us a full report when you get all the home birth info, id be really interested to hear what they say as im still considering a home birth as well

Wooo homebirth :cheer:

As you know, am keen on homebirth so am really pleased you finally are able to have it all sorted. I really do hope it goes well for you.

Are you planning using a pool at all or just other forms of pain relief if needed?

I get my kit this week at my 36 week MW appointment afaik. She books me in officially then and I am good to go. She'll come out and see the house, make sure she knows where it is etc and give me any pointers. Then just a case of waiting :D

I'm glad your home birth is being sorted :cheer: :cheer:

Sounds like everythings going well, James was 3/5 engaged half way through labour :D He was born at 38+4, maybe you haven't got too long to wait :cheer: :cheer:

I think if you are at home and more relaxed it makes it much calmer anyways. Also being able to move around freely, do whatever, all helps.

I can have pethidine IIRC but its on prescription and has to be given earlier in labour as it crosses the placenta. I doubt I'll opt for it though. Hoping water, gas and air etc will enough for me.

And ditto, I hope we do. It does seem so many of us who hoped for homebirth haven't been able to have them for one reason or another. Be nice if some of us could :)

Good luck and keep us posted :)

From my past experience I found I only needed the pethidine once I got to hospital and panicked! I think I could have gone longer without drugs if I'd stayed a home where I felt relaxed.
I think fear does play a big part in our perception of pain

thanks for that muppetmummy i am really hoping gas and air will be fine plus the fact i have made myself a list of things to do to keep my mind off the pain :D

YAY for that and homebirths! I'm due for a GP appointment this week and then a midwife one in a few weeks, am hoping they find no reason to stop me having a homebirth. I've had a trouble free pregnancy on the whole so fingers crossed!

If/when i get my homebirth it'll be gas and air all the way for me! Possibly a pool too

That's great news hun. sounds like you have had a successful day.
:D

aww thats wicked hun that you're getting your homebirth sorted!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: xx
