Hey :)
Just looking for some advice. I have a job interview tomorrow - the post is from jan-dec 2016... Obviously if all goes well with this pregnancy I'll have a baby in July/August.
I really don't know what to do as obviously I'll have to tell them I'm pregnant before I start work (if I'm successful)

Any thoughts on this? I just hate the thought of going and stressing over role plays etc if i have no chance of getting it.. They also stressed that the job was a lot of standing up all day.. Sighh

That's difficult... do you have a job now? If you're already employed I'd be reluctant to start a new job as you have to be employed by the same company for at least 1 week more than the number of weeks pregnant you are to qualify for SMP.

As for telling them, as far as I'm aware you don't have to divulge pregnancy if you're under 12 weeks, but I'd look into that with the CAB or someone as I could be wrong.

Good luck :)

No, don't have a job at the moment.
I thought it was a health and safety thing?

Ahh I'm so stressed about this! Thank you for replying xxx

I had the same dilemma last year when I was waiting to see if the IVF had been successful, I decided not to go for it as I felt it would stress me out too much, also the standing up most of the time would be an issue for me as I always feel faint when pregnant.
What does your OH think? I hope you manage to make your decision, try your best not to stress over it too much xx

He thinks i need to get a job asap. I agree with him just worried about it because I don't have the experience they want and as you say the standing and I think they would use that as the excuse not to hire me.. Might hold out for an admin type role. I know it's really because I'm scared though i think :/

How about some temp admin work to give you some extra cash without the commitment to a long term contract? xx

legally you don't have to tell them until 15 weeks pregnant (25 weeks before your due date)

If you don't currently have a job then I don't think there's any harm in applying and going for the interview, its up to whether you disclose if your still early. I imagine you would then be on probation for the first couple of months so there is a risk of them finding an excuse to get rid of you however they would have to be very cautious with discrimination laws.

Yeah i do feel so bad for misleading them though. The agency work is a good idea, i think I might try that as i would prefer to be transparent and it's not as if anyone will begrudge me if I'm not there for long anyway xxx

I went for a job interview the day before I started having a slow labour and baby delivered 4 days later. So I couldn't hide mine lol. I got the job even though my maternity now starts straight away. They legally cannot discriminate against you. If you are the best person for the job your circumstances cannot be a deciding factor.
