Jane Nomad and Matrix Cup

I don't have any experience of the nomad pushchair but i do have the lay flat car seat. We went for this option as space is quite limited and also if we are out and about and baby wants to sit up for a little bit we can just adjust the car seat and hey presto! We did think about the carry cot and the car seat but after thinking about it loads (and i mean loads) we decided that having the two in one option would be better. Hva eyou been into mothercare to have a look? I don't think our local one does it and only seels it on line but i have been to another shop and had a look.

We went for the Coal colour one but instead of the nomad pushchair we went for the carrera as it folds down smaller and is lighter weight.

Ours is currently in my parents loft but everything we have seen about it we love.

Not quite the advice you wnated ( i think) but thought i would put my two pence worth in!

Hiya,

We didn't opt for the 4 wheeleer as we needed a 3 so got the Jane Slalom Pro and Matrix seat.

We love it. It was our only real choice and nothing else came close.

I'd say if you want a 4 wheeler and like the Jane its a good choice. Nothing came close for us in overall quality, frame, buggy, functionability (all orange buttons etc do something). The only downside for us is the Matrix is a bit heavy but as we don't plan to use it as a car seat often thats ok. I'd imagine the pushchair is lighter overall also.

With regard to the Matrix seat/lie flat pram then you really need to have it fitted into your car to see if it will fit as a sit up rear facing car seat. It does not fit a great deal of cars that way as it requires a long seatbelt. We could not use it this way and only had the lie flat option using two seatbelts which was fine as we hope to use it that way for longer trips etc. And also as a lie flat pram when LO is small and still not able to sit upright when in buggy.

Mothercare ONLY fit it as a sit up rear facing car seat. And even then the lady fitting it for us found it would not fit. Their staff are not trained to fit it as a lie flat. They also appeared to us not keen to even let us attempt to try to fit it lying flat so we had to go to an independant store who fitted it both ways and showed us how. So much for Mothercare saying the sit up Matrix was not going to fit our car  However, as we did not quite like how it ended up we decided to go with a different car seat but stick with the travel system. Cheaper than buying a new car or settling for a travel system we didn't like anywhere near as much as the Jane. We then gave them our business for the entire Jane set up as they were knowledgable and understood the Jane and its workings. It will fit pretty much all cars easily as a lie flat FWIW.

We tried the Jane Baby carrier in the car and that did not work for us as at least 50% of the babyseat has to be in contact with the car seat and it didn't quite cover enough area.

So we opted for this Jane set up and then got a totally different car seat from Britax (not from Mothercare tho as overpriced there) that works out about £20 more than a baby carrier but is good from birth to 4 years old.

This site has some of the cheapest deals on Jane out there Mothercare is really expensive for Jane products.

This site has the same product for almost £50 less than Mothercare. Shop around for Jane online and you'll find some great deals.

Hope some of that was of use :)

Any questions feel free to ask or drop me a PM. Hubby and I spent many hours reaearching, trying out and fitting the Jane set up we opted for.

I've got the matrix cup carseat too, with the slalom 3 wheeler.
Like the others have said it is very heavy so you won't be able to carry baby far in it, and it won't fit in a supermarket shopping trolley like some others can.

I was attracted to it because I wanted baby to lie flat in the pushchair for the first few months but didn't want to spend over £100 on a carrycot that would get less than 6 months use.
I think the fact baby can lie flat in the car and then be moved to the pushchair without being disturned is fab, especially since it's a 30 minute drive to the city.

It's also a bonus that once baby is a bit older you can use the matrix as a rear facing seat on the pushchair chassis so baby can face you. Because the seat reclines they're not going to be as cramped as they would in a normal carseat.

ETA: I bought mine brand new from an ebay shop. I got a package including the slalom, matrix, changing bag, cosytoe and raincover for almost £300 less than mothercare :cheer: :cheer: Definately shop around, mothercare are really overpriced.

Sorry haven't replied sooner, been away.

Thanks for the adivce, I really like the look of the Jane pushchairs I think it'll be my final choice. I need to find somewhere that stocks the Nomad so I can test it out- it seems its mainly avaiable online.

I went to independant stores to test drive the Jane properly and try fitting the Matrix. They stocked Nomads also. Places like Mothercare were useless. Have a ring round and see. Honestly, if you like the look of the ones you see in store, even if they are the 3 wheeler ones, or the twin ones, you'll probably love the Nomad.

Brilliant, I'll have a phone around and see what I can find. I decided I wanted it after seeing a couple with it in town and stalking them for about 4 shops- they must've thought I was a right weirdo! :rotfl:

I have replied to your other thread but just to clarify that the Matrix cup is the same as the Matrix pro! I have it as a rear facing sit-up car seat in my Ford Ka, but I have it in the front seat, its brilliant. But as I said in my first post its no good for newborns in this configuration.
