Im so happy and proud to announce the arrival of my beautiful son Jack. This is my 4th attempt at writing our birth story lol.
Saturday 24th August - I had been feeling yucky for a few days before and had a few niggling pains but felt fine on saturday. I left my mams about 4pm and went home. At 5pm i was lying on the sofa and started getting some pains. I tried timing them over the evening but they were irregular, getting them between 6-12 mins, lasting about 45 seconds. At 2:20am on Sunday 25th i called the birthing centre at my hospital and they advised me to take some paracetamol, take a bath and have a rest. Managed to fall sleep at 4:30 for a couple of hours. Woke up and didnt have any pains so thought it was a false alarm. Within an hour though, the pains started back up and they were more intense. Tried pottering around the house to help take my mind off the pain but by 3pm i felt like i couldnt cope, called the birthing centre again and they told me to go in, by this point i had been having contractions for 22 hours!! I got examined and was told i was only 1 cm dilated!! 1 bloody cm!! I was gutted!! She did confirm baby was right down and my cervix was completely thinned out so i had basically done all the hard work and we just needed to wait for me to dilate, she was convinced i would be returning a few hours later. She sent me away with 2 codiene which done nothing lol. Got home and paced the floor for a few hours and at 7pm felt i couldnt cope any longer. Called them back and because i could talk through my contractions they didnt want me to go in because i couldnt have dilated much more so would of got sent back home . I was foaming, talking was helping me get through them. They told me to wait a few more hours. 30mins past and really couldnt cope. Called them back and was told to go in for 8:30 and it was made clear i would probably get sent back home. I wasnt bothered i just wanted checked over. I got there and got examined and i was 5cms!!! Woohoo, i was nearly crying with relief!! I had a fast heart rate which meant i couldnt give birth in the birthing centre so my water birth was out of the window. I got transferred upstairs to the ward, i had felt the need to push from 7:30 and i kept telling the midwife but she kind of didnt believe me, when we got to the ward she examined me again and i was fully dilated! So went from 5cms to 10cms in an hour and a half! Jack's heart rate started to drop and they couldnt tell how he was lying. They eventually realised he was back to back. We got rushed to theatre because of his heart rate and mine and i got a spinal block, he was then turned with forceps and delivered with help from the forceps too. He was born at 11:10pm weighing 7lb 12oz. In labour for a total of 30 hours.
He is perfect and is a double of his dad!! Poor thing....only joking lol

isn't it! Its true you kind of forget - until I'm in labour again and il be screaming 'what made me wanna go through this again!!' Yey excited for next week
