I've just made an appointment with a fertility clinic to have a consultation.

I have been trying for 9 months now including having a miscarriage and after forcing my doctor to do a 25 day progesterone test last month I found I had very low (2.5) levels. This month mid cycle bleeding and although I have another appointment to have my second progesterone test I just thought sod it, and have made an appointment with a specialist. My doctor seems so unwilling to investigate and offers no advise at all so although I don't think I need IVF (yet) I do want an expert to look at me and give me his opinion about hormone supplements etc and to advise what the hell is going on with my body.

So £160 well spent I say.

Don't know why I wanted to share this with you girls, I guess I just feel as though I have made a big decision and wanted to tell somebody.

Fingers crossed I can get some answers.

Becs xx

Thats great news  . Glad you're taking the step to get things sorted. When I first got my appointment to see the gynie it gave me refreshed hope, cos after trying for so long you kind of give up and think it's never gonna happen and you can't even be bothered to BD cos what's the point. Well that's how I felt anyway. That progesterone level does seem very low, did they say that you are not ovulating or does a low prog level mean there could be something else wrong if you have ovulated?
Good luck with it, hope you get answers very soon

Good Luck hunny, i hope you get the results you want

Good on you for taking action! It's just a shame that your own doctor couldn't be of more help.
£160 isn't a lot to pay though if it gets the ball rolling for you.
Good luck, this is a big step in the right direction

Thanks FC, well the doc said it was so low it suggested I hadn't ovulated but my charts showed that I had. I asked he to do the test because I had very low post ov temp (very near my coverline) and also i was worried that my temps weren't high enough when I was pregnant before my m/c. I have read that low progesterone levels will mean that you may not be able to maintain a pregnancy even if you are ovulating. Thanks god for google because I certainly didn't learn any of this from my doctor, who doesn't even understand charting.

Have you read my thread 'Not to bother charting'? I was told by my gynie today it's very unreliable.

Thanks you guys, wow, what fantastic support!

Smurf - I managed to get a 9am appointment on the 3rd July. I thought that was pretty quick considering they tell you to book two weeks in advance. Also by then I'll have my second progesterone results so more info to give them.
