Hi Ladies,
I wondered if any of you had really itchy skin. I use loads of moisturizing cream, but my skin still itches like mad, all over my body, not just on my bump. Has anyone else had this?
Lisa

Hi hun if its really bad you need to give your hv a ring or the hospital because it could be due to pregnancy and needs checking, i had to have a blood test when i got it but there was nothing wrong but better check

Oooooh I've had this the last few nights after getting into bed. I have bought some cocoa butter to smear on but its making no difference at all and driving me INSANE!!! Just another thing to stop me getting to sleep along with the heartburn and bad back..... :x

I've had really itchy legs!! last night I was scratching so much I nearly made them bleed! My bump gets itchy but I suppose that's just the skin stretching.

I just looked at that link and last year I nearly died from liver failure. It's all repaired and back to normal but the liver specialist said my liver will always be weak so I hope it's nothing to do with that

I phoned the hospital and they want me to go in this evening, so will post when I can. Thanks for the info, girls.

ive started to get itchyness near my shoulders on both arms now

Sorry it took me so long to get back, but that was one hell of a night! went into hospital - two hours waiting, to see an unsympathetic doctor who just looked at me - from a distance, and announced that there was quite obviously nothing wrong with me! He suggested a calamine lotion and sent me home!
I got home at one am, to find that my youngest son had been throwing up for two hours, so spent the rest of the night with him. :puke: :(
the only good thing is that the peadiatritian was really sympathetic this morning, and suggested I saw my consultant. Will be seeing on friday.
I spent the rest of the morning dozing, as i hadn't had a lot of sleep!
Oh well, such is life!

Hi Gals,
well, after my fun and games at emergency ward last Sunday, yesterday I had an appt with my consultant and he was HORRIFIED that the emergency doc had not done blood tests, so it was back to the emergency ward for me, with a letter from him, testing, and sure enough, I have obstetric cholestasis.
They then did some extra stuff with dopplers to check fetal movement and reactions, and it would appear that Anaïs is fine and kicking - thank goodness, but they will now be keeping a very close eye on her. I have to go back to hospital on Monday for a scan, and check of amniotic fluid.
After reading on internet, I am going to ask for them to induce the birth, as it seems to be the most recommended path. I am, after all, full term. Anyway, wish me luck with convincing the doctors...

I also want to thank you girls for putting me onto this condition as I had no idea, and I dont want to think what might have happened if I hadnt insisted on testing.

Mons, please, could you change the title of this thread, so that it says that it has been updated? I dont know how to do this! Thanks

Lisa

Hello - hope all is well with you now and you got the induction you were hoping for?
Just to update on my part for anyone else who reads this thread in the same position - i went to docs about a few other things and mentioned the itching. She looked at my hands and said i have contact dermatitis, gave me some cream and also gave me some tablets which are anti histamine. Well i've always had cream cos i have excema but never tablets before to stop the night time itching. Two tablets down and they are absolutely fantastic, have really really helped with the night time itching. Give them a try!!

Wow Lisa I am so glad you pursued this with your doctor and they have taken it seriously. Thank you for posting and raising awareness of the condition.

I hope everything goes well for you at the check ups tomorrow. Please post an update again if you are able.

i was a 'sufferer' and now have a beautiful little girl. there are a few ladies on here that have had the condition. you will find the itching will go within days of having bubba (but you will still be kept awake at night... but lo. :D )

i was induced at 37 weeks so they should offer to induce early.

let us know how it goes, and we need to see pics when bubba is here!

take care
[/img]

I cant believe that you werent tested for OC when you went to the hpspital, the emergency doc must have got the rollocking of his life when someone caught up with him!
Im glad you have been diagnosed as it can be serious in few cases, and hope the induction goes well hun.

Thanks for support girls, willl update you as soon as i can. Am off to hospital in a while. Wish me luck! Who knows, maybe i will soon be able to hold my little girl!
Lisa

Hope it all goes well sweetie and keep us posted!

You might get to meet her sooner then expected! :cheer:
