how babies instinctively close their eyes or squint when water is splashed near them? not even on their face just near them iv noticed millie does this in the bath and also at the swimming pool. youd think it would be a learned thing wouldnt u? lol.

Apparently their epiglotis automatically closes if they get water on their face too, but they grow out of this when they are about 18 months

first took millie swimming 3 weeks ago. shes 4 months old 2mro.

baby swim groups are normally held in the baby swimming pool or the shallow end of a main pool is cordoned off, so the water is only 1 metre deep; i guess it wouldnt matter if u couldnt swim in it coz it only comes up 2 ur chest.

i cant remember NOT being able 2 swim, and think its coz my dad took me from being a baby so i think it must be best 2 take them young so they get used 2 the water and learn early

its a flap over your windpipe that closes when you swallow so you dont get food down your windpipe
