Hi, I have a home design question, would appreciate your ideas!

Hopefully, soon we will have a two bedroom house and one child (2 years old). I would like to use the second bedroom as a children's room/guest room. The idea is that normally it would be my son's room, but when we would have guests, he would sleep with us, and they would sleep there.

I am now wondering what is the best way to achieve this. Can I make a room nice for the kid, but not overly bright so that it would also be pleasant for the grown-ups? And, mainly, how to put a double bed in without it completely ruining the look of my son's room? So far I am thinking of using an expandable guest bed (the one that looks like a plain sofa), and put bright cushions with kids design on it, with the view that the cushions can be easily removed when the guests come.

Thanks!

That's a good idea if you can fit a sofa in! In our guest bedroom at the moment we have a single bed which fits another underneath. You are supposed to be able to join them together to make a double but I don't think you actually can without someone falling inbetween! Grey is a nice wall colour to use as it can look amazing with either white accessories or really bright colours. I'd suggest looking on Pinterest, it is full of great ideas! I think as long as you have plenty of storage to put the toys away etc then you'll be fine.

Hi, I am planning to do this with our nursary as I didn't want to use our smaller room for it as my husband uses it as a study. I am getting a day bed/sofa bed thing that pulls out. I think maybe its easier when they are younger though as I am having a girl. However, I wouldnt worry about how kiddy it looks as guests only stay in it for a night and won't care, and your son will use it all the time. Xxxx
