Is the temp too high?

Take it no one knows about temps
Aimee has an ear infection and has been really ill since Friday. Her temp before bed went up to 39.5 under her arm which I know is lower, not to sure how it works though. How high should I leave it before I would need to call someone?

Aww honey I couldn't read and run.
I am no expert on temperatures, but if you are unsure ring NHS direct and ask their advice I am sure they'd be happy to advise.

That temperature is high, have you given calpol??? or anything to lower it??

Above 38 in a high temp hun. Calleigh had a high temp the other week and it turned out to be an ear infection. Made an appointment with the docs and she was given antibiotics and i noticed a difference just after the first few doses.

I would give a dose of calpol or ibuprofen and retest in 20 mins to see if its drops down.

Also found this link for you :)

Hope Aimee feels better soon.

That temp is too high, try and lower it with calpol/ibuprofen and loosening her clothes etc. if it comes down and you can manage it through the night then I wouldn't worry too much but it would be worth getting her checked at the docs tomorrow. If you get to the point where you can't manage the temp then ring the out of hours docs.
Hope she feels better soon.

She has been given antibiotics this morning and has been on regular ibuprofen and calpol since Friday but her temp seems to be staying high. Just worried at what level I shouldn't let it go past without getting help for her. Never had to deal with a temperature this high before and its panicing me. Hoping the antibiotics get to work fast

So long as you can bring the temp down it shouldn't be a problem and the fact she's on anitbiotics means she should be getting better soon. DD had an ear infection not so long ago and the antibiotics worked very quickly so hopefully they will for you.

In general a high temp is not dangerous unless it stays high so if you're able to bring it down with the calpol etc. then keep doing that. If her temp goes up and doesn't come back down with the medicine and other techniques like stripping her down to her underwear, giving her a luke warm (not cold) bath then ring the docs again. I'd say you should see an improvement in the next day or so once the antibiotics have had time to kick in.

Yep as Becky has said strip her off to keep her as cool as possible. Keep offering fluids to keep her hydrated. Are you alternating the calpol and ibuprofen? I wasnt aware until recently that the two could be given alongside each other.
