that "urge to push"- does it feel exactly the same as when u hav an urge to poo?! and if not, how is it different?
i'm worried i might think the babys coming only to do a poo infront of everyone how embarrassing wouyld that be!! :rotfl:

i promise if you do a poo you will not give a flying F**k haha. I did a poo and was happy cos it made the pushing a bit easier and the midwife scoops it away so quick none of my family even noticed.

Plus its not the same feeling as your body will just start pushing and you think, my god whats happening! but you when u actively push you do push like a poo.

xxxxxxxx

I pooed and am proud of it! :cheer: :cheer:

Not really proud that would make me weird, but funny story:

I was so bothered about pooing I was asking, so eventually between pushes they said, yes you pooed, well anyway my personal cheer leader next to me got carried away at the next push and kind of forgot what he was saying and got all mixed up he was saying" come on, do a really big poo, you can do it!" I found it very hard to push when I was laughing so much - in fact I am laughing hysterically right now reliving the moment!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You don't really care by the way, P says there is that much crap down there you can't see it anyway!

Oh and I had an epidoodle so don't know what the urge to push feels like!

I must admit it felt like i needed to poo and even managed to drag my fat harris onto the bed pan epidural in situ thats how sure i was
Turned out i was 10 cm dilated :rotfl:

people think i am mad when i say this but - i never got the urge to push

with Dior i had a epidural so i wouldnt have any way

but with Harley i had nothing and could feel every thing at 10cm i was told i needed to push but i was in to much pain i was closing my legs crying and sayihng i couldnt do it - i stayed like that for about 10mins untill they started getting me ready for theater saying the babies heart rate was in danger and if i didnt push now i would need a section  i soon got pushing - but if it was not for that i thinik i could have lay there all day

ouchhhh i can feel that pain again now i am thinking of it

I only really got the urge to push with nathan but I could feel his head was there so i knew what it was. Your body just takes over though, if you didn't push your body would probally do it anyway without trying.

I so did feel the urge to push..i kept getting the urge to push and was been told breath through it as they didn't think i could be anywhere near to needing to push but i was anyway..it felt like i could do nothing else.

I didn't poo but agree wouldn't of cared ..you can't see anything your tummy is in the way. I could also fel my LO's head as he was near to been born and that encouraged me to keep pushing

its like when you have the runs and you have no control over where or when you're going to poo! :rotfl:

Glad you asked this. :D

Sorry girls but I had a wee bit of a giggle at your stories. I have real problems with my bowels and this is one thing I am worried about.

I work in the hospital I plan to give birth in and am a bit scared that I will see the maternity staff again and will get embarrassed. I hope I am like you and am proud to poo....

Also I am a bit scared of having a poo after baby is born. :?

I had an upset tummy after 3 days of hospital food and had a few bedpan moments...... I made OH leave the room

As for the urge to push....it's more like a spasm. You know after you've been sick and your body keeps clenching? Like that in the opposite direction. :D

I bloody had it at 5cm and made my cervix swell up. But there really is NOTHING you can do about it when it comes

Yeah seriusly girls dont worry about pooing!
even though it seems like you will care now, when your in labour your really wont, you'll see what imean when its happening.

Id say the urge to push was exactly like needing to poo, so much in fact that during that bit i was shouting at the midwife "im doing a poo" so she went and got a bedpan and said "when are you going to do it?" and i was shouting back "Ive done it, its there!" and my hubby and the midwife were like, erm Raynor thats the baby your feeling! but i was totally adament it was a poo! In the end i actually didnt do one :rotfl: !

Yes, it definitely does feel like you want to poo.

I kept apologising and saying I'm sorry I really need to poo
I didn't though...... or so I am told

Good luck; you will be fine :D

Very good explanation I think. I was trying to explain but couldn't findthe words but thats exactly how it felt for me.

i got te urge to push but i thought it was slightly different than needing to poo... maybe it was the gas and air lol.

i needed to push at around 9 cm and they let me which i was v. grateful for lol

it took so much energy to push it was unbelievable. probably the worst part of labour coz of the effort envolved!

no pooing for me thank god!!!

Hi

Although i only made it to 9 and a half cm and didnt get the the pushing stage i can totally agree that if i did i wouldnt of cared at that point all i wanted is for Kiara to be out!!
Katrina

I had an epidural but i was obessed that i needed to poo...     i kept tellin the midwife and all they said was that's just the epidural workin...

I don't think i pooed but i really don't care whether i did or not...

The midwives are soo used to it it doesn't bother them

so don't worry it
