We've been so lucky so far to have a chilled out LO, but the past few days, he's been squealing a lot and seems to have an uncomfortable tummy. It's coincided with me starting to take calfig for constipation. There's nothing on the packaging to say I can't take it while bf, but does anyone know if it might be causing him to be unsettled?

While we're at it, does anyone have any decent remedies for constipation? I'm sure I have it because my diet is rubbish while I'm looking after a newborn and I'm sure I'm not drinking enough because I'm not really looking after myself as well as I should, and lactulose and calfig don't seem to be helping :-( any suggestions??

Diet and liquids are the key things. I always have a pint of water next to me when I feed and sip on that while he's feeding which keeps my liquids up, if you feed in the same place each time you can top it up after a feed and it's there when you need it if you forget.

For diet fruit and veg are the key which you can snack on quite easily throughout the day. I keep a bag of carrots in the fridge and the fruit bowl well stocked.

Little changes should sort you out quite quickly :)

Thanks :-) I find looking after my own eating and drinking habits really hard to keep on top of to be honest, and I know it's ultimately what's causing my digestive problems. I do always have a drink next to me, but between feeding and trying to get a quick snooze in when he falls asleep on me, I know I'm not taking in enough.

Must try harder!!
