Hi everyone

My name is Claire and I'm 23, and currently 13 weeks pregnant with my first child who is due on the 23rd September. I have yet to have a scan (bloody NHS) but I am having one on the 4th April at last, but I will be 16 weeks by then :wall: Really hope everything is okay in there as I haven't had any medical intervention so far during this pregnancy; have not heard a heartbeat or had any blood tests....nothing. So as you can imagine I'm a hugely paranoid hormonal mess right now!!!

Anyway, hope to get to know you all better as the weeks progress!

Much love,

Claire xxx

Hi Claire,

Welcome to tri 2! Thats a bit of a ball ache about having to wait until then for your scan. Sometimes the NHS are rubbish, I had to wait until 23 weeks for my 20 week scan which was bad enough so it must be pretty annoying having to wait as long as you are having to.

Anyway, enjoy your stay here and I'm sure everything will be brilliant when yo get your scan.

Thanks Alex :) It's very frustrating indeed - thanks for the kind words!

Hello and welcome! The NHS are really terrible in some areas and then great in others. I guess I'm pretty lucky here, our maternity services in the county were just voted in the top two of the UK so that's pretty good. They've been spot on so far and all my appointments and scans have been booked in early and my midwife is lovely. I appreciate not everyone is so lucky though.

I wouldn't worry about anything, I'm sure you'll be completely fine, you are in the safer zone now. I'm 17 weeks today but haven't heard my baby's heartbeat yet either, they won't check for it here until 20 weeks, although I did see it beating well on my dating scan at 10 weeks. To be honest, not much happens in the way of ante-natal care until you reach about 20 weeks and your bump starts to protrude well. After this stage it becomes much easier to hear baby's heartbeat, feel where baby is lying and also you should start to feel some movements which is daily reassurance that all is well! It's so frustrating in the early weeks but all you can do really is sit it out and wait for the good bits! Good luck hun, hope you have a HH9M!! x

Hi Claire

Firstly, welcome to the forum! Hope you settle in well and enjoy our little chats in here!!

Secondly, that really is a bugger having to wait so long :wall: Will you get a 20 week scan or anything?

They should really give you blood tests surely? I don't know much at all about different NHS systems around the UK so not sure but I'd have thought the essentials like bloods, 20 week scan etc would have been the "done" thing wherever you're from?

Ah I feel for you, but don't worry hun, not too long to wait now! xx

its shocking the differnt levels are care you get around hte country, our area is good on getting scans "on time" but the midwife care has been rubbish, my 12 week blood results arnt in my notes yet and neither is my first scan, if anyone wanted to check my notes all they'd be able to see is my due date and 20 week scan.

 Hi and welcome to 2nd tri!
Sorry to hear that you have to wait so long for scan but it will be worth the wait I'm sure as you'll be able to see so much! You're in the safer tri now so keep your chin up and try to enjoy the feeling of being pregnant- thats if you're not suffering any of the nastier sides of it!

Hello and welcome

I hope they still let you have the twenty week scan too! There must be a lot of pregnant ladies in your neck of the wood at the moment :D

Hello and welcome to Tri2 claireyfairey
Have a happy and comfy pregnancy and you're not paranoid, its perfectly normal and healthy to worry a little, I'm sure all will be just fine, very best wishes

Welcome :)

Waiting so long must suck, you must be worried, but you'd probably know by now if anything was amiss, and also, youo'll have loads to see when you do get your scan!

Hi Hun  , waiting for your first scan seems to take the longest time. I remember how frustrated i was that i had to rely on just a pregnancy test stick to remind me i was pregnant. The drs dont do any further confirmation.

The wait will be worth it though when you see your little baba on the screen for the first time. It will be love at first sight! :D

Aw thanks for so many friendly replies everyone :o

I'm sure we'll talk more over the next few days - it's great to have somewhere like this where you can talk about all things pregnancy, instead of boring your non-mummy mates at home by talking about it 24/7

Hi

I hope the next few weeks fly by until your scan, then you can relax and enjoy :)
