Infected stitches/wound!

I have a 3rd degree tear from forceps delivery.

I'm on day 11 now and I noticed things didn't feel right down below and tmi a smell.

Said to mw who checked and said all healing nicely and no infection. Fast forward 4 days I mentioned to another mw. She checked and said yes it's infected and wound has opened a bit!!! Got me on antibiotics right away(only started yesterday).

I've been so vigilant keeping clean, sits bags, tea tree oil, showers and water after I pee. I don't know if I've overdoe the hygiene bit??

Anyone else had infected wound down below?x

I haven't had an infected wound there but I am sure the antibiotics will help a lot.
I did have an episiotomy that extended to a third degree tear, and it was sore for about 3 weeks. Then it was sore but bearable.
I'd try swapping the tea tree for lavender oil, I found it more soothing.
Are you taking your painkillers regularly?
I was on 400 mg ibuprofen, for about 4 weeks. I w as Breastfeeding so don't worry if you are Breastfeeding.
You must rest, take your antibiotics, and painkillers. I am sure you will feel a lot better in another week, once he infectin is under control xxx

I'm taking co codamol. But have been trying to cut it down as they are making me constipated!

I haven't had an infection, but had an episiotomy and Tear. I'd recommend lavender oil & milk too, after only a couple of baths in it I noticed a huge difference. Hope the antibiotics work.

I had my son 5 weeks ago and tore quite badly I think there's two wounds inside and two outside. All are infected and I'm still in a lot of pain. I've been on anti biotics for two weeks and still have d week left. I have my post natal check next week. I've got tonnes of discharge.

Definitely lavender and salt baths or milk is helping me x

Hi Clairey

I'm sorry you are going through this too and for so long.

I'm only 12 since giving birth and I feel so sorry for myself. Everything hurts more now its infected than it did when I came home. Even sitting on the toilet to pee hurts so I've started standing up. I'm constantly constipated despite having high fibre diet, stool softeners, laxatives and prune juice. When I stand I I just feel all this pressure/pain right into my front too.

It's hellish. Are you getting out of the house Clairey? I went out day 4 before infection. Since infection I've not been over the door. Find it hard to do much other than care for baby. Oh goes back to work mon an I also have a 4 yr old.
