In the news not to drink

i have had a couple of drinks during this pregnancy but never over the 1 to 2 units a week recommened and only usually a glass of wine over dinner etc. i see it like all the other pregnancy dos and donts. its my pregnancy, my baby, my choice. my mw even told me that if you had cravings for runny egg giv into them, it wont hurt occasionally! theres so much conflictig advice i will do what i feel is right for me and baby and if people dont like it tough!

i watched the news last night and they sed there was no evidence to back up recommending no alcohol but they are doing it because some mums might interpret the guidelines differently but doctors are still saying 1 to 2 units a week.

There is no scientific evidence to suggest that small amounts of alcohol are in any way harmful to your baby.

There is also no scientific evidence to say it def DOESNT harm your baby!

I also didnt find out i was preggers till i was 6 weeks and drunk heavierly one night before this..... But now i know i wouldnt touch a drop.

if it harms your liver surely it harms ur babies xxxx

I havn't touched a drop since finding out i was pg (i think xmas eve was the last time) , but I think thats because when I had my MC first time round I didnt know I was PG and drank a lot - the next day my MC started. So I dont know if that had anything to do with it, or was coincidence.

But I have to say, I can not wait to go up wolverhampton and get absoluteley slaughtered when baby is here!!!! I miss my Cider!!!

Oh the good old days.........

i dont drink much tbh at all, but last night i went out and ha a couple of small wines and really enjoyed them. But wouldnt be the same doing it at home!

just curios now, but how many who like a wee drink whilst pregnant also smoke.....I dontdrink but i do smoke although it is roll ups and not fags and only a couple a day......I have cut down.....

I never smoked whilst pregnant. I was a social smoker anyway so I wasn't at all bothered about dropping it but I feel for anyone with a habit. It's tough :(

Interesting you ask about the booze/fag link. I always smoked more when drinking, it does make some people more tempted I guess. :? It's another thing I haven't bothered picking back up with.

Well done for cutting down though, how did you manage it? :D You should put your tips in the smoking section, I think we've got some struggling mums at the mo.

I dont know if the tips i have would help anyone... .The art to my cutting down was having 8 kids.. ..T B H i dont get chance to sit down and have a fag....Always on the go....When the wee ones have gone to bed  at about 7pm then i might get time to sit. I eat about the same time so i start getting busy making tea for me and the hubby or we both head for the kitchen when they are in bed.....

But many people do tend to have a smoke with a drink, but fags are not as easy to give up or cut down..If hey want to cut down then really it is just will power and keep on their feet being busy... :)

I don't agree with people drinking to excess in pregnancy but I think it is ok to have an occasional drink. I think throughout my pregnancy I had about 3-4 small glasses of wine (on seperate occasions).

HI.. Well i might annoy some with this but anyone who drinks in prgnancy is asking for problems. :( ....I used to drink and had a problem..I gave it up and have been tea-total since the birth of my second......There is no safe limit of booze for a non pregnant woman never mind one who has a tiny life growing inside them, and that tiny being needs you to keep it healthy and strong for its future.. ....There is no need to drink in pregnancy...You can enjoy a good night in or out on fruit juices or soft drinks.......Anyone who wants to consider drinking during the nine month period should really do some investigating into what you are doing to your unborns dveloping organs before having that one glass of wine......Sorry if this offends anyone but it is not fair for the unborn to be put at risk because mum wants to have a drink...Thanks for reading this.......  .

I had half a glass of white wine on my bday (first I've drank since I found out I was PG). I'm sorry but I don't feel this is putting my babys life at risk, lol!!!

I do have the occasional glass of wine if i fancy it. Personally i think the odd glass of wine is much better than smoking!

So you drank during your first 2 pregnancies? I'm sorry but that's abit hypocritical  You said you gace up AFTER the BIRTH of your SECOND child???

I gave up drinking after my secod was born but i did not drink through the pregnancy. So please gets facts right before you say something.....I had no sense when i was drinking but i never put an unborn in any risk....................

Oh sorry so you didn't drink during the first pregnancy? If I'm wrong I apologise...

No i did not. I started drinking heavily when my oldest daughter was one and had learnt my lesson by the time my second was born four years later......

I've had about 2 small red wines since being pregnant - I don't agree with drinking regularly or more than a glass at a time though. I stopped smoking when found out I was pg which was really tough but in my opinion smoking when pregnant is wrong because it can cause miscarriage, lower birth weights and......well you all know the risks. Remember this is just my opinion so I don't want to start an arguement like I've seen happening before 8)
