well, i went 2 the 1st antenatal class and nearly fell asleep!! then when i asked a question the "midwife" never knew the answer! i never went to the rest, i found magazines and websites to hold the best information tbh plus people were more truthfull!!, at the end of the day no 1 can tell u how 2 b a mum!! it sounds a cliche, but it does come naturally!! u dont need 2 go 2 a class 2 know everything, u pick it up real quick!! ull b fine!!!!!!

Thats the thing with this forum, someone always knows something thats helpfull.

I never went to any antenatal classes and before I had Nathan I hardly had anything to do with babies. As you said, being a mum comes naturally but if ever I do need advice/info then this forum and the rest of the internet is a great help :D

talking about the MW not telling the whole truth... or making their hospitals do everything possible to make you comfortable.... i know hundreds of women who gave birth to their babies at the same hospital i'm booked in for.... they all have a different version of how the MW looked after them!

at my parent craft class the MW told me they light candles and burn lavendar oil to relax and calm you... sounds all lovely and peaceful... but not the whole truth... not one person i know got this treatment.. also they where all told the anethetist was on his way down with the epidural - not long now!!! just 10 more mins.. sorry been delayed he'll be 5 more mins.. then - sorry too late!!! can't have epidural now... apartently it's because you need a MW to yourself if you have an epi and they don't have the staff.. awful....

I'd like to go to my ante natal but they're held between 12:30 - 14:30, what kind of time is that?! It's a 'couples' class and as my OH works from home it shouldn't be problem but it cuts right into the middle of his day (for four sessions) - no work no pay!! My work place is fine with me taking the time off - don't think they have a choice, but really I think they should have thought through the times a bit better. I've only been to one session which actually was quite interesting - found out the maternity ward is closed at least once if not twce a month!! But don't think I'll be attending any others simply because of the time at which it's held.
