im pregnant and worried financially

I am also worried about finances. Even though my husband is a quantity surveyor and should technically be on a very good wage he had a massive pay cut two years ago and is now only on £16,000, which is a terrible salary for a surveyor. I am earning more than him but when I lose my full-time wage we are going to be in a bit of a predicament.

There are lots of ways to save money. We don't go out that much anyway and neither of us smoke. We're definitely going to have to give up takeaways!! We're terrible for ordering things like Domino's. I am going to have start colouring my own hair as my hairdressing bills are a small fortune and definitely a luxury I should cut out. I do like baking so I'm going to try and bake more bread and cakes for us to eat. We just wish we had a bigger garden so we could grow some veg and stuff!! I suppose you have to adapt and deal with it as best you can.

On the plus side you'll have lots of time at home with your little babs! :)

i think no matter what you earn you will struggle when you have a drop in pay (such as maternity pay) i know we earn far more than most of you have said and yet when i go onto mat leave i will get a huge pay drop until then we are focusing on buying what we can before hand and paying off debts i think we can save money in various ways particularly the food shop and to stop eating out at all. but then while you try and save money there are always extras that come up iv had in the last few months a large £400 vet bill totally unexpected, our fridge freezer has packed up so we need another one, car needs a service and brake discs changing, blergh. it doesnt help when you are trying to save and be sensible when life throws things in the way! x
