Im fair, he is dark....?

I have been thinking about this alot lately and I know il never be able to know until LO makes an entrance but I thought id mention it anyhow to get your views.

I am blue eyed, blond haired and fair skinned. Rich is brown eyed, brown haired and also has pale skin.

I find myself wondering (how sad am I, you ladies better say you do this too) what features the baby will have, whether it will be blond and fair or dark??? I know no one will know until the big day but it gives me food for thought

What do you reckon?? Also is blue eyes more dominant or brown eyes??

I think it could go either way. I think brown eyes are more dominant over blue, but I could be wrong.

Zack when he was born had black hair, that was the same as I had when youger. But now he has medium brown hair..... it looks identical to his bio dads... much to my disgust. But he cant help it.


I have ginger blood in my as my mum was ginger and full of freckles. I have a few frecks and zack has got about 3 tiny ones on his face. Reallllly seriously hoping that this babes not ginger, no offence on ginger people by the way lol

As far as I re call the darker features always tend to be dominant. I have the same as I'm blond, blue eyed and pale, while my other half has hazelie eyes and dark features (a bit latino/ arabic), however as his mother is a blond, blue eyed American the chances are that the lighter features may be more predominant in our LO - as they seemed to have skip his generation as all siblings are on the draker side like their father. So like you I often wonder as well what my little man will come out looking like?!

I'm very fair and have blue eyes and ginger hair and dh is quite dark with brown eyes. Both my girls have dark drown hair with blue eyes but Jess is dark skinned and Aimee is fair. Bet i get a ginger one next time!

I feel the same about my Baby. My OH's Mum's family have a tint of ginger to them but my OH has mousey blonde hair with light eyes doh: cant think what colour though, he'd kill me if he saw this ) and also very fair skin, whilst i have natural brown hair (but dyed at the moment) darkish eyes (i think they change with the weather though) and olive skin.

I've always heard that the darker is the dominant colour but my Mum is same as me (I take after her alot) but my brother is so pale you could probs see his veins and his hair is milk colour i don't know who he took after, def not my Mum or my Dad

Some white people are 'whiter' than others, some people can be classed as white but have a darker skin tone, where as some have much lighter skin tones. Same as black people I suppose, some have darker skin, some have lighter skin.

I hope the dark genes are dominant! I have very dark almost black hair, olive skin and hazel eyes. DH has blonde hair and blue eyes and very white skin (typical viking!). His family are all hoping for and expecting a little girl with long dark hair (a mini me) because it is so unusual in his family. I would also like her to be olive skinned so she doesn't burn easily

jade your baby is more likely to have blue eyes and blond hair as they are the recessive gene.

however there is stil a chance you may get a brown eyed baby as you may carry the brown eyed gene.

we're the same as black people. come in all shades. I know fair black people and very dark black people.
White people are sometimes paler than others. Im quite white compared to my sister who has olivey skin even in th winter.

Ebony_preggy - not really as I'm quite pale (fair) while my sister is a lot darker than me - and we both have the same parents. Different shades of white (pale), guess just how you have different shades of darker skin all depends on your genes! Like today I saw a mother and daughter walking alonging and I was amased at how white they were - literally milk bottle white, definately not good for sun bathing!
