I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl on the 21st of November, so 5 weeks ago now. Originally my stiches were very painful the pulled and it took my a good few days to build up the courage to go to the toilet. After About 10 days every time I got up and down it pulled so much down there I ended up crying I went to the hospital who basically told me as it was a first degree tear it was probberly a running stich so they didn't want to chance cutting it and having to re do it. A few days later it felt a lot better. any way I've just finished bleeding and decided to have a look down there. If I touch it the skin feels so thick there and there's also a soft like lump infront. I've been stiches further forward so now it doesn't go back as far as it did naturally and I can put ky finger behind it like it is to far forwards. I gentally pulled my self apart to see what's going on and were i was stiched started to bleed a tiny bit and then swelled up its all puffy still.now more than 24hrs later. thank god I haven't had sex cos I'm pretty sure it would have ripped and been really painful I'm so pissed off about it because if the Dr says I need to be cut n re done I really don't think I have the guts it was ok after i had given birth as ur not thinkin about it. Knowing im going in to do it that scares me so much. Has any one elee had problems. I'm going to make a des apointment when there next open.

I don't know much about it but I had a second degree tear and mine never hurt so I wud say if it still hurts then there might be something amiss?

Hiya,
I'm sorry to hear you are still in pain :(
I would ask to be referred to an obstetric physio or physio with training in childbirth. She will be able to give you exercises to do to help.
It may be too early to consider an op to sort it out, I'd give it 6 months to make sure everything has healed. It's still quite early days to know if this will last or if it will get better with a bit more time.
I know it's hard, I had 2 episiotomies, 1 that extended to 3 rd degree. So I know how scary it is, wondering if you will ever feel normal again.

Tell your health visitor too, she may be able to refer you to someone also.

Hope it feels better soon.
