im at my whits end , if brian wasnt at home id be a seriouse wreck , leland is crying through every meal ,and i just dont know why ? he eats but he screams through it , he wants to eat of my plate ( in fact he lit pulls my plate towards him if his in his walker) but struggles really bad with proper or lumpy food as it makes im gag and vomit hurrendously !

what can i do ? i dread meals times at home , his much better when out tho :wall: his such a whinge bag at the moment i just cant cope with his crying no more

Its not anything to do with his reflux is it Gem? Have you spoke with your health visitor?

my hv is useless i have no confidence in her , for 8 weeks she said leland was just sicky and for near 4 months he just had dry skin and infact it was excema :wall:

I can't say for sure but my DS had really bad reflux and has had real probs with lumpy food and finger foods. It might be worth looking into as there could be a link between reflux and eating lumpy foods. xxx

im giving him puree tho , but his still screaming through it , its actually driving me insane and i end up in tears :wall:

i would be tempted to ask to speak to another HV.

Have you tried letting him feed himself? giving him chunks of food and see if he is in control if he feeds better? sorry apart from that ive got no suggestions.

Bah, if you think hes in pain Gem then skip the glorified baby enthusiast and take him to A&E. Or at worse go to your GP.

If you think hes just fussing then    :( I hope he settles down.

But if you think its distressing him/hurting him to eat. Then go to A&E lay it on thick, and dont leave until they have a solution!! Put your foot down, thats thw only way I got my diagnosis, and medication...

Im sorry hun

If I don't feed lil miss rapidly she will scream and whinge... I literally have to keep shovelling it in... Lil miss is also constantly hungry. I think its because she is sick all the time, that you feed her, she throws up, and she needs feeding again. So maybe increase his meal times to include 2 snack times and reduce how much he eats at meal times. Also I feed lil miss milk a lot too. She has on top of three meals and 2 snacks, up to 9 milk feeds a day. :) Most people say that if they are sick then they can't be hungry as they are throwing up the excess, but I just don't believe that with reflux babies, I have watched lil miss throw up the entire contents of her tummy and she immediately starts signing for milky, I've fed her and she's fine again. Reflux is a different type of being sick imo.

I am lucky with lil miss she is pretty laid back and as long as I am quick with the food then she is fine...But I also supplement her diet with endless baby rice cakes and slices of cheese during the day... These are the only finger foods she can eat that don't make her gag and vomit. The cheese is wafer thin slices broken up into little bits and put on my plate so she can steal them off my plate. :) Things off mummy's plate taste nicer. And a little rice cake is sucked and chewed on until it turns to moosh. She has just moved into the realm of rusks (she gets one if she eats all her dinner and dessert and is still hungry) and she has so far... (fingers cross  been ok with them) but it takes time.... I introduce things bit by bit. Most people say try banana but that seems to stick in her throat and then makes her constipated.

If you don't think its medical related you can try these things everything is worth a go once.... otherwise get a second opinion.

I love the way babies do that! its the easiest way ive found to get alice to try something different! :rotfl:

Harrisons the same hun, even with milk. The only time he'll eat nicely is when Daddy feeds him. He's throwing his weight around as I feed him, he hates his chair, walker anywhere! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Squig, you are totally right. A baby with reflux does not throw up because they are not hungry/ over full. They throw up because of the week muscle between the osophegus and the stomach. They therefore need feeding shortly after...

Ahh damn Gem, im sorry hes being a pain. Have you tried shoveling it in? I have to do that with Corey or he moans, litterally two handed - two spooned shovelling

You could try feeding him in the garden? I dont know if you have one, and its not like weather permits, but... or mabey somewhere else, try poping the chair in the hall, or kithen or somewhere. If he feeds when out OK then try and fool him (kind of, you and I both know hes never going to fall for it, but it might be enuff).

Failing that, no baby has ever starved to death. (Trying to end on a positive  )

spoke to a different hv today , and she thinks its his highchair he doesnt like !!!!! and to try eating with him like at a picnic or something , which would make sense as he is much better when out and was fine in connor's high chair too !

Id try letting him feed himself too. Give him a yoghurt and a spoon and try to spoon other bits into his mouth in between

Ella doesn't like her high chair either, she screams after about 5 mins. Yesterday and today I have fed her on the floor and she has been fine. She is also fine at my mum's in her £25 high chair, my £95 one she doesn't like!! :wall:

maybe try the £10 highchair from ikea hon??

sorry you're having such a crappy tim atm - if its not one thing its another...

jesus the babes ! your one is on offer at mo at kiddiecare suze if all else fails :rotfl: mighy take a trip to ikea , but always come out with one of there oversized teddies

We have bought one of those booster seats for Ella to sit at the table and she is much better in that, it was only £15 from Asda and it has a tray too.
