I HAD MY BLOODS TOOK TODAY *CRIES*

i had my midwife appointment today and went through family history ect, i had a different midwife as my usual because they have 3 weeks off a year and so she was off-call.
Well, firstly i was totaly unimpressed!
she stuck the doppler so deep in my stomach it hurt to the point my face went red then i yelped and said a little gentler please that really hurts. poor baby starts fluttering around inside! she mannages to find bubs tuked all snuggley a few Cm below belly button at 150bpm. i had already heard bubs that morning with my doppler anyways and only takes me a second, my dopplers better than hers!
THEN she decides to take bloods five or six tubes of it
im really bad with blood and pass out and seazure if i get distressed or havnt eaten so i lay down and she sticks me with the needle OMG it hurt so f* much my eyes were watering and OH is stroking my head. shes yapping on ohh wow your vain is so tiny.. oh now its spazaming.. i cant get anything from you let me try again... nope not happening... she took at leats 20 mins not even joking i was crying i wish i had have passed out! my arm is still bleeding 11hours later so i took the gauze off to change it and my arm is swollen, bruised and i have blood under my skin with a huge gaping hole in my arm. im so angry!
id take a pic but i dont want to make anyone sick sorry for the TMI im just so bruised and p* off right now

is your arm still bleeding now? it def shouldnt still be bleeding if she only took blood. as for 5 or 6 tubes??? i work in a hospital & i cant think of any reason why she would need to take that many!! hope youre ok. x

awwe hun, sorry to hear that. as for the amount of tubes, i had 5 taken at my booking in appt. it's for all the different things they want to check for which i had explained to me at the appt. Hope you're feeling a bit better!!

i had that many taken too !! i think its just so theyve got plenty to spread around as li know mine sent bloods to all sorts of diffferent places,birmingham, kettering, allsorts of places other than my local hospital lol

As for still bleedins ounds terrible !!! Did you explain to her before hand that you had a real phobia about them ?!?! Mine was a bit brashuntil i said look, im a bit fat wimp where needles are concerned so if you know any tricks or tips pleaseeee let me know. But it was nowhere near as bad as yours sounds you should have said something !!!

Bugger this for a laugh, try again later, tis no good for your blood pressure to be getting so het up about it all babes !

I had 5-6 tubes taken when I had my bloods at 12 weeks!

Im sorry she hurt you Jess I hope the swelling goes down soon!
My friend gave blood once and it bruised her arm from her elbow to her shoulder! I hope that doesnt happen with you!!

Oh that sounds awful. Im a pro at the bloods as i have had so many taken. Luckily i have great vains (sh!t bowels but great veins!) lol

I have cr*p veins! They strap my arm and make my pump my fist then slap it and still dont get anything!

my MW was never able to get anything out of my veins, i have to have it taken from my hand by a phebotomoist (SP?) they're more expert at taking blood and book more time out for problem people with crappy veins. you'll have your next lot in about 3 weeks, i book the phebotmoist for a day after my mw app, mw preps all the tubes/paperwork etc then i just take them along with my notes;.

still takes her about 3-4 attempts to get anything and come out looking like a smack head

i was feeling very delecate but a little better now still black and blue but it stopped bleeding yesterday at last when i had bloodwork done when i was testing for hcg, they got blood out great wonder why they couldnt this time x

My bleedin midwife said what great veins i had, but then again im not sure that made it any better, sort of felt like my body was betraying me !!

It knows full well i dnt want her to take my bloods but it just sticks the vein right out there !!
