After living in this flat for over a year and having no neighbours downstairs we finally have and they are horrible!! The day they moved in all we heard was shouting, doors slamming and rave music being blasted. It has been like that 24/7. It goes quiet about 5am - 10am and then it starts again. I am sure they are neds (chavs, townies, etc). I actually heard a girl shout 'haaaaw man' last night. It sounds like they are having a constant party! My OH doesn't want to go down and talk to them incase it stirs up trouble for us. We don't exactly want a letter bomb put through our letterbox as we are on the 12th floor!

Ive lived in student accomodation b4 so i know what this is like

Most of the time i joined in like but the odd night i wanted sleep it was a nightmare!!!!!!!!!

I dont really know what to suggest

Maybe an annonamous call to the police will scare them a bit?

you can contact your landlord to make an anon complaint, if its the council they have to do something about it, if its a private landlord i'm not sure....

ooh just realised...you may own oyur flat, lol. In that case all i can suggests is a complaint to the police

I'd try having a word with them, you don't have to come across as arsey - just explain that they're disturbing you and could they keep it down a bit. Then at least you've given them a chance to be good neighbours before you have to make an official complaint.

I've lived in lots of rented flats and have always found people to be pretty reasonable when you approach them in a friendly / reasonable way xx

Yeah i agree with what has been said, but mostly agree with amanda, i would approach them in the nicest possible way and kindly tell them that you have a problem with all the noise, im sure they will be happy to keep it down, as they are new to the building and might not be aware of what they are doing.

If all else fails phone the police.

They might not have realised that you can hear them. Just try mentioning it to them nicely, if they get nasty at least you've tried. Then contact Environmental health if it carries on. Good luck!

We've got horrible neighbours too and even though when we mentioned to them about the noise they got nasty they have actually stopped playing music loud.

Have some of these. It's horrible having idiot neighbours. I would talk to the landord if you have one and other neighbours.
If you complain to the council and you own the flat you have to declare it in your HIP when you sell (I think  ).

Where we live you have to contact the Enviromental Health Department, our police won't do anything!

We got new neighbours last year and its a nightmare!

Good Luck and hope it all works out soon.
