I will try to keep this short!
When i was divorced 7 ish years ago the children stayed with their dad half the time and me half the time and it was agree in court we would never have to inolve maintainance as it is shared care, well at the ages of 15 and 16 my eldest 2 fell out with their dad and moved in with me full time, so that left 4 that were 50/50, anyway since then one of my sons now stays with his dad full time (another long story) and another one stays with me full time so i have had 3 full time and he has 1 full time and the other 2 are 50/50 (are you managing to keep up?) well i got a letter a few weeks ago saying my ex had started claiming the family allowance for all of them so they stopped paying me  i have had to reclaim but it has also meant they have stopped my tax credit because it has come up that the children are not mine  all this started in July and i still havnt had a penny, i have just rang family allowanceand they said it could take at least another 3 months to sort out and thats if my ex doesnt argue so at the moment i get no family allowance and no tax credit, i dont work and my husband lost his job so is doing a bit of angency.
The bottom line is we are well and truely fucked all because my ex husband is a bitter twisted wanker

Oh he also gave up work to say he was looking after the kids so i got a full time job but after 4 years i had to give it up as had to leave work on aregular basis to go and collect one or the other from school when they were ill because nobody could get hold of him as he was off out all the time.
I also had to call the police on him as he refused to let the kids out the house to come to me once and they were all crying and in a state but he did it so he could say he had them more hours than me therefore claim money for them.

Aww hun Im sorry hes being such a tw*t  , I dont know about these situations, so dont have any advice, but hope it gets sorted....and he gets the karma hes got coming to him

I sympathise with you my 2 oldest kids are with my ex and we have a shared care situation. When we split I was working full time and he wasnt working so I (rather stupidly) told him to claim child benefit to help out.
Anyway he got a new job new GF etc and the kids spend about 5 days a week with us now, however he refused to let us claim tax credits and refused to pay a penny to us so basically he was claiming for having them full time and spending the money on himself letting us struggle to clothe and feed kids.
Anyway we claimed fr the other 2 kids when we claimed for charlie and it took 8 very long months for the tax credits to finally decide we were entitled, we never ot a penny the whole time so were owed about £3000 in back dated money, they are now saying that they need to check all of our proof of earnings before they pay it as it has been so long . NOT MY FAULT THEY WERE THE ONES THAT TOOK AGES!!!

So I really do feel for you on how annoying these situations can be
