Hi Ladies, I know this is a bit of a personal question but I figured if I can talk about my ewcm this may not be so bad to ask?:)
How often do you DTD when you're in your fertile window? Last month we DTD every other day and after ov it was every 3 days or so. We've been unlucky so far so wondering if anybody had any good advice? Especially any of you ladies who've got your bfp?
Thanks guys I've pre-warned the oh and he's up for the challenge!

We dtd every other day during high fertility till we got peak fertility (solid smiley on cb) and then dtd every day. We havent been successful so far so not sure what others think x

Thanks Melly and Sunflower. It's so confusing isn't it? I have a 5 year old and when we were TTC her we just DTD, lay with my legs in the air and didn't worry much more than that. But this time round I'm bbt charting, opk testing, SS continuously and just generally feeling so knackered about it all. The every other day bd'ing seems the best then, we'll continue with that. What do u think about twice a day the day before ov, day of ov and day after ov? It all sounds good in theory but I bet after a long day in work it'll be a miracle if we manage the once!

I don't think it is necessary to dtd twice a day....the sperm hangs around for a few days anyway so it's really relying on the egg being released during this time. You also want to try and enjoy it rather than seeing it as a chore, which I know I would do doing it twice a day fir a few days.....you'll both be exhausted! If you're feeling shattered by the bbt charting and SS, perhaps take a ,ore laid back approach as relaxing will probably be a good thing if you are ttc. My first two were conceived really quickly too....been trying for 5 months now and feel af is arriving today so no doubt I will be back to SS and charting soon as I have no self control ha ha!

There are varying opinions on whether you can overdo it. The male body does need time to recover and build up enough sperm. I would think once a day would be plenty if you can manage it. The two days before ovulation are your most fertile.

We tried every day last month and nothing. Trying every other this month because we were worn out

We have settled on every other day starting around CD7 as now that I'm monitoring my cycles a bit more it seems that I ovulate anywhere between CD11 and CD14. We tried every day last month and really it was just exhausting and it was starting to feel like a chore by the end. I've also read about sperm needing a chance to recover. Went back to alternate days this cycle and it was much better. Sadly not been successful yet!

Thanks all for your advice, your absolutly right, I don't want it to Be a chore and I think twice a day is a bit unrealistic for us. I Hope u all get your bfp's soon. Xxx

I read unless the man has sperm count issues once a day is fine, I think any more than that will affect things.

We used to dtd every other day before ov and everyday in the days around ov :) xx

When I was TTC#2 it took a while until I tried the SMEP method which worked first time. The way it works makes sure all the 'old' sperm are cleared out before ovulation so that all the 'fresh' ones are ready and waiting when the time comes!!

Let me know if you'd like the details :)

Think I'm gonna try smep when we ttc properly lol how did it work again? I remember people on here doing it but my cycles were always everywhereee! Hoping they wont be now as I think it was the pill that did it xx

I struggled with cycles varying from 32-56 days randomly too! Here it is, step by step:

Here is your to-do list for the Sperm Meets Egg Plan (SMEP). You should decide to try SMEP within the first week of a new cycle. The first week of your cycle you will relax and get prepared. After that, it’s go time!

CD1 is your first day of full flow

CD8 BD every other day until you receive a positive OPK

CD10 daily OPK test - Start daily OPK testing until OPK turns positive

+OPK day - BD today, tomorrow, and the next day.
Skip a day and BD one more time.

If OPK never turns positive, BD every other day until your period arrives or until CD35

If AF has not arrived when expected, take a home pregnancy test
First morning urine (FMU) does not always yield the best results, you may wish to try with your second morning urine (SMU) or an afternoon test after a 3-4 hour hold (no liquids)

Good luck!!
