how much?

hiya, last week i offered oliver finger foods. he loves it, the only problem now is that he wont eat from the spoon. i am worried he is not getting enough food now. he makes such a mess i dont know how much he eats in to his tummy!

any advive on how much a seven month should have

As long as you're offering him a variety of foods and he's still getting plenty of milk I wouldn't worry about it too much!

But I would like to know what you're giving him. Alice is 8 months old and the only finger foods she's had so far are unbuttered toast, rice cakes, baby biscotti, hot cross bun and banana - I'm at a loss for what to give her!!!

I have given him apples, toast with butter (is that wrong?) bananas, rice cakes, carrots broccolli. pears, what ever veg we are having with our tea.

i have cheese and melon to try him with this week.

oh I just freak out about the 'no salt' thing and we always have salted butter in the fridge. When out, she's had buttered toast and seems fine for it...

Do you cook the veg you give Oliver - and if so, do you boil it w.out salt?

Am I just being over-anxious about the salt thing?

I am a salt fiend and so extra cautious about introducing my tiny girl to my bad habit!!

Hiya, I dont use salt when cooking. I steam his veg for ages so its soft for him to chew on. When you cook for alice leave out the salt, boiling the veg will be fine. I have a sweet tooth so I dont want Oliver to have sweet things! Its so hard deciding whats best!

Thanks Jadie. When Alice gets better - she's got some viral thing at the moment and is off food - I'll try her with some steamed veg! She loves eating by herself whenever she gets the opportunity!
