Hi all,

This has probably been asked before, but I've had a quick search and coming up blank.

Anyhoo, I'm moving next week from a flat to a house, so I'll have lots of lovely space to stock up on things for baby.

Approximately how many nappies of each size should I stock up on? And to the ladies who are already mummy's - which brand are the best in your opinion?

Thank you all in advance :)

While pregnant, I bought 3 packs of Number 1 newborn nappies and 1 pack of Number 2 nappies. But my LO came 4 weeks early so he didn't fit any! Had to buy the mini ones for him. I didn't realise how quick babies can go through nappies! So the more you get the better in my opinion!

Noah has been fitting into number 1 newborn ones for about 2 weeks now, and has gone through about 3-4 packs of 27!

Huggies and Pampers are the best in my opinion.

As she said get loads if your bf nappy needs changing at about every feed at least. I have 2 skinny babies and found cheaper ones leaked less for us. We use wilkinsons.

Hey Hun ,
I found pampers we're the best nappies . I think I brought at least 100 nappies in size one and I brought a box of 80 nappies in a size 2. I always planned on using pampers but I did buy 1 pack of Huggies in size one and I found they leaked xxx

im stocking up, have a box of 80 odd pampers size 2, a pack of 47 size 2 little angels from asda, a pack of 27 size 1 huggies as they were a freebie and then a pack of 30 pampers in size 2. Just trying all kinds out and see what happens, i got size 2 as they started from 6lbs to 13lbs, x

I have about a thousand nappies lol.

Probs a mistake getting so many at this stage but I didn't realise how many packs I was getting. I used to buy them whenever I went to the supermarket.

I have mostly pampers, Huggies and a few of the Asdas own brand

I collected packs of nappies when preg and put them under the cot bed ready, by the time I was ready to drop, I had 13 packs of newborn, all size 1 , except 2 size 2 . Devon was 6lb 6oz at birth and to be honest I struggled with the last 2 packs , to use them up , they were a bit snugg by then. You could have a nappy jar and put the money in there instead? (if your good and wouldn't borrow the money!)

I used Sainsburys own nappies when newborn, the cheepest were Morrisons, and I found Asda like Pampers and Morrisons were like Huggies, with the fit and the velco type instead of sticky type, my fav are Huggies or morrisons

I didn't really bother stocking up other than buying a couple of packs of little Angels size 1s. I don't see the point in stocking up unless there is a baby event on and you're going to save money. We didn't really go through that many nappies at first at all.

I think it all depends on the baby cos there seems to be such mixed preferences i think

personally i found huggies better, the pampers didnt leek but were much liter n didnt absorbe as much pee so irratated her more iykwim

ran out of the huggies no 1 by mistake today ( kayla is 3 weeks and think i had 6 packs of 27 bought in )so went onto the tesco no 2 that i had bought while pg an they seem quite good too

also for the early days i found the strip o n the huggies great to tell you when they were went

Ella seamed to stay in size 1s for ages then size 2s for only about a month and she has been in size 3s for a few weeks but still has plenty of room in them!

I bought too many size 2s and tesco happily let me exchange for size 3s!

I use pampers active fit and have used boots own once which were ok! X

Can someone explain the reason of stocking up so much? I was planning to get all the necessary nappies for like 2 weeks but surely after that we can pop to the supermarket to buy more or even sent my oh if I can't go?
Do I miss sth here ? I hav a huge 2 floor + basement house if I need to stock whatever but I don't know if I should risk to get too many that will either not fit or leak when the supermarket is 1 min drive?

^^ I won't be stocking up, I'm going I buy a few packs before she arrives and then pop down the supermarket when we need more. Like you, it's only a couple of minutes away. And I think I'll be buying Huggies, me and my brother were Huggies babies, my mum and dad swear by them lol x

I find Huggies leak! Like every nappy too! I love pampers! And at Asda they are cheaper than little angels when there on 2 boxes for £20!! Size 6 that is! my DS is a big boy! Hoping to get him out of nappies by the time next 1 comes!

I stocked up on them because they are quite expensive and as my OH is self employed he won't be earning when he is off work with me at the beginning. I have supplies of pretty much everything we will need during those few weeks to minimise outgoings.

aha, spreading the expenses makes a sense but i think i will stock mostly on other things than excessive nap pies as i may misjudge how fast the baby will outgrow them or i may find that a brand that i got leeks too much etc.
i think i will get a couple of packs of first size and the next size and thats all. but we will see

We had our 20 week scan today and as we bought the nursery furniture this month we didn't want to spend too much money so we bought some nappies! I bought two packs of huggies, pampers and one pack of little angels. Asda is quite out of the way for us so it will be interesting to see how they are. We won't be getting any more though, see what works best for LO then stock up x

Iv got 2 size 1s and 1 sizes 2s of huggies, with free coupons etc... Won't be buying anymore untill we see how we get on and which brand baby likes!
