How have you hurt yourself?

Charlotte....owch! I winced looking at that!

I sliced the palm of my hand open by picking up glass on a beach when I was about 3. My dad just took me home and dunked my hand into the twin tub washing machine! (my mum was washing clothes) and then bangaged it, I didn't go to hospital. I still have the scar across my palm now though its faded a lot.

And I fractured my leg when I was 12 by spinning around on the school sports field, making myself dizzy and falling funny on my leg. I was gutted cos I did it on the last day of summer term and the plaster came off 3 days before I went back to school!
I did get to go to the front of the queue when we went to watch jurassic park at the cinema though because I had a plaster cast on

I've only had stitches when I've had an operation. I've been quite lucky really.

broke my toe on the hoover.

i was about 14 and some brat threw a lump of concrete at my and split the skin on my head open. had a trip in an ambulance for that one (no lights though, i was gutted!).

ive woke up with a splinter in my eye.

ive had a verruca on my foot, and i got a splinter in it and it swelled up. i had to have it cut out of my foot :puke:

and apart from the odd sprain etc, thats about it  there is always my gall bladder, but thats not really hurting myself

About a year ago I fell off a cross trainer and broke my ankle! :rotfl: :rotfl:

My OH bought it for me for christmas and put it together, I was on it one night about a month after xmas and listening to my ipod, when it suddenly collapsed and I fell to the floor! I was in a dream world, doing my exercises in time to the music and just day dreaming, next thing I know, I'm in a heap on the floor in the most tremendous amount of pain! My OH thought I was being a big baby but I went to A&E and they did X Rays and told me my ankle was broken, had a cast and crutches and OH spent the next four weeks grovelling and running round after me. It wasn't his fault though, it was just a crap cross trainer!

And my Dad accidentally shut my fingers in the patio doors when I was three and left my middle finger hanging on just by the tip, had to have it sewn back on at the hospital! :puke:

Um...I couldn't tell if a stove was on once (electric burner) b/c it wasn't turning red, so I waved my hand over it. It still didn't feel warm, so I, the genius, stuck my ENTIRE PALM onto the burner. You can guess the rest.

I had beautiful circle marks on my hand for almost a month.

Well here goes.........

*When I was 9 I was in hospital and pulled out my chemo drip (which was plumbed directly to my heart) while I was asleep which resulted in waking up with the depression in the bed full of blood and it overflowing onto the floor - lost about 5 pints of blood so although I didn't hurt myself it was gory :puke:
*I was mucking about on a kids ride-on toy aged about 12 and drove into a bend piece of sheet metal which went straight into my knee
*I was speed skating at a roller-rink at about age 15 and broke 2 ribs when I left the rink at high speed and hit the barrier to the cafe
*Got two parallel scars on my left knee from when I went through a barbed wire fence on my bike
*I've broken every finger and both thumbs playing hockey at school and college
*I've broken my nose 4 times, three times in hockey and once on the ex's boobies :cheer:
*Was playing football at college and someone kicked my knee instead of the ball and it went round the other side of my leg, now can't feel the top of my left foot and it's always ice cold to touch (makes the OH jump in bed anyway  )
*Got shot in the calf with a blank round on excercise with cadets, split the skin open to the bone.
*Sliced the top of my finger down to the bone trying to split a piece of wood with a knife
*Cut my thigh open on three separate occasions with a hedge cutter when i've fallen through the hedge I was sat on top of
*I've pierced my arm with a branch when falling through a hedge
*Got petrol in my eye whilst refuelling a strimmer
*Got hit in the eye with a stone while strimming
*I've sliced my left ankle with a spade while digging
*Most recently I cracked a rib sledging

Add to that various scars and burns from Astroturf pitches, falling off bikes, skateboarding, falling out of trees, etc.

I'm pretty unadventurous when it comes to broken bones (non) but my hands and arms are pretty active ones lol so scars a plenty. And for the sake of this thread they are all interesting/stupid/funny.

Left hand first finger inside - Putting up a speaker at a gig (one on a stand). The stand was like a metal tube within a metal tube sort of thing, and the other person putting it up let go, so my finger skin got caught inbetween the piping and sort of pinched it. It didnt bleed or hurt or anything, but it bled inside and sort of bruised?! Then it faded and turned to a scar.

Left hand first finger, on the bend - I was cutting a block of cheese, horizontally instead of vertically

Right hand palm - I was on one of those school adventure holidays in Wales and we went Pony Trekking. My horse was just walking along and then sort of collapsed and I was like wtf. I just thought I wanna get the hell off it if its dying or something, and it rolled over and sort of caught me on my way off so it knocked me into a load of pointy rocks, and my hand got the brunt of one of them.

Right arm inner - Burnt line scar from when I used to work in Morrisons bakery and they didnt provide me with arm protectors and one of the trays was a bit too heavy for me and dropped onto my arm, making a burn mark.

Also, my left ankle is temperamental... I was having a shower and an ex went out to get us Mc Donalds. I dont know how he did it, but when he came back in, he'd locked the door from the outside before he pulled it closed. So we were locked inside, from the outside. So as soon as I tried to leave the house I went a bit stirfry, forgot all other options (like the window halfway up my stairs - there werent any downstairs windows as such, it was part of a converted chapel) and I jumped out of my skylight window, in my bedroom on the first floor. It was fine all day until that night I had to go to A&E as I'd pulled a ligament or something in the back of my ankle. It's still temperamental every so often and just stops working and I fall over :wall:

Erm..

I think that's all for embarrasing injuries for the moment

I started reading this thread and nearly passed out... I'm SQUEAMISH dontcha know!

For the record I've done that too, with a frying pan... its a standing joke with my OH now.

Broken my leg when I was 7yrs old in PE at school...we were doing different kinds of jumps and I spun around in the air but landed on one leg before the other and kept rotating  so I got a spiral fracture and spent 10weeks in plaster. Had to use a zimmer frame because I was too small for crutches lol

And when I was approx 17yrs-18yrs I broke my little finger by crushing the tip into the first knuckle and I needed a pin put in it (which I still have). All my nerves were damaged too so I had to conciously keep bending my finger in order to get the movement back or it could have healed seized up or with limited movement  I'm pleased to say that it's about 100% as before *phew* :talkhand:

- Got run over when I was 11/12, discolated my hip.
- Fell off my bike (showing off!) when I was 15 and fractured my elbow.
- Perforated my eardrum by poking it with a tail comb.

Quite lucky compared to some
