Hi ladies
new to the forum but looking for a few tips hoping being a member of a forum will help

Been TTC for 7 years and feel like times slipping away

How do you manage each month to cope with the disappointment??

Have got my HSG next month (so long as I don't get the BFP this month) and first month using ovusense which confirmed ovulation so has been a godsend as LH strips don't work for me

I spend the first few weeks of the month planning getting pregnant being disappointed Im not, then the last 2 weeks of the month hoping its worked this
month and spending all my time on google looking up symptoms and looking at positive tests (please tell me Im not the only one that does that??)

Anyway, how do you cope??

I don't think you ever get use to the disappointment. All I try to do is keep on living and try not to focus solely on ttc otherwise you will go nuts and end up wishing your life away.

HSG isn't too bad, I hate hospitals and actually getting myself in the room was the hardest part for me. Hope yours goes ok.

I agree, I don't think you ever get used to it I'm afraid.

After all this time (7 years, same as you), I try and 'expect' it not to happen - but there is always hope that it will happen. Any feelings or bleeding (which I get a lot of lol), I think, "OMG, we might have just done it". My hope doesn't tend to last too long as I know a lot about implantation bleeding after all this time, and as it continues to 2, 3, 4, 5 days I quickly realise that it is too long and too heavy for that. Instead, I have low progesterone and AF is coming.

I am having IVF at the end of the month and hoping to have acupuncture at the same time. I have also looked into reflexology (which many other ladies on here have had) as it is very relaxing and may be worth considering. Also, my fertility clinic offer free counselling.

I was off work earlier this year with depression when everything got too much. We have decided that we will have a child, by whatever means it takes (even adoption). I have told lots of people I have PCOS now I finally have a diagnosis and that our chances of having children are very slim indeed (purely to shut them up!).

I also follow PCOS Diet Support on Facebook and have signed up their emails. I think it is an excellent site.

I assume you are on metformin honey? Xxx

Thanks for the replies :)
I've tried reflexology & acupuncture it didn't work for me unfortunately but I know it works wonders for others my PCOS symptoms are just the cysts and the lack of regular cycles until the last 12 months for some reason my body has finally decided to cooperate!
Tried clomid a few years back via private clinic with no success and had a HSG bloods etc but thankfully been referred to another to check nothing has built up or blockages Im grateful of anything at this point haha!
Back on clomid for 3 months in December after the HSG I don't qualify for anything else on the NHS so its a case of saving after that
Good luck with the IVF at the end of the month, Ive heard loads of success stories xxx

Not even metformin?

Try inositol, chromium and cinnamon xxx

Thanks hun, My cycles have just regulated after 7 years and am ovulating so they're just going to try me on clomid again if they recommend them I'll give it a try, but hesitant to do anything self medicating at the moment incase it knocks my cycles out xx

Oh that's good. I ovulate too, think my problem is egg quality and hormones in general still. Why are they trying clomid again if you ovulate on your own? It stopped all my spotting yes but I produced a silly number of eggs and still didn't get preg lol. X

ooh I don't know to be honest, she just said she would put me in the for HSG next month then when I go back in December as long as Im not caught before and she would give me clomid again on a low dosage but I didn't ask too much I was just happy they was doing something haha!

I highly recommend metformin... clomid made me produce lots of eggs like phonixgirl, but I still didn't get lucky. First month of metformin, and BAM - which was the same for a good friend of mine. Coincidence maybe obviously, but perhaps not! I'd been asking for metformin for over a year, but they chose to operate on me first, give me 6 months of clomid, and then finally let me try it as a last resort (when usually it's a first port of call)

Im back in December I'll definitely ask the question especially when everyone has good results on it
Hoping the HSG comes back all clear again then I don't have to have an op

I've also not been allowed metformin until after everything else, I can't understand why they seem so reluctant.

Especially when so many other people (my friend included) are offered it first before going down more "extreme" routes. I wish I could remember the reason my GP gave - I believe simply they don't tend to give it to non diabetics (maybe just down here?), and my consultant was reluctant due to bad side effects.

They wouldn't give it to me for a year either because I wasn't fat. Research on the internet says it doesn't matter what your weight is, metformin can help (as Kitty has proven). I saw a different doctor one day, one who was willing to let me try it, and now I am on it. Push, push, push for it xx

Ha well I am fat and I'm still not allowed it. My consultant refuses to discuss the issue further with me but having gone back to my GP following my second mc she is willing to let me try it at the end of this year as there is some evidence it can help prevent early miscarriage in people with pcos. I will have to wait and see. I've heard it can have bad side effects but quite frankly I'm willing to take it and see if it will actually work and we get a take home baby.

I have been on it for just over a week. I had an upset tummy for a couple of days just after meals but that was it. I am fine now. Defo get it! Xx

it is easy to say: relax, everything will be OK. It is not so easy to do that.
