I usually do them in the microwave but then they don't actually have a jacket. If I do them in the oven do I need to wrap them in foil and how long do they take to get a nice crispy jacket(two big potatos). Thanks :D

I don't bother wrapping them- I just microwave them for 5 mins to soften up, then bung in the oven till crispy.

I don't wrap them cos they don't really get crispy.

I just prod them with a fork a couple of times then stick em straight onto a shelf in oven on 200 for 60-90 minutes (i love my skin really crispy thats why)

I put salt on mine too that crisps them up as well

mmmm - I'm doing one now. To go with leftover veggie chilli and some cheese on top.

thnks giriles ive always woundered this i have just had a jacket with cheese and beans (all free on slimming world green   ) and i usualy do them in the microwave if only id of seen this an hour ago i cuda done in in oven as i had that on for OH's tea

thanks for the tips anyway

For a crispy jacket, wrap in a foil with a little olive oil and rock salt, bake for about an hour. The salt draws the moisture to the skin giving you nice fluffy spud or something. Remove the foil and return to the oven for half an hour ish which will make the skin crisp up nicely.

If you haven't got a lot of time, bung in the microwave for 5 mins first and reduce the total time in the oven.

I usually nuke mine for 5 minutes first, then just chuck it on the top shelf of the oven till crispy.

Cooking them from raw takes ages and wastes a huge amount of energy running the oven just for a couple of spuds. I bake mine after nuking with something else in the oven also.

i didnt realise puttin salt on them make them more crispy will have to try it in the future
