I had my little girl 5 days ago but she has never latched onto me and she gets really upset and stressed the more I try. So I have been expressing and giving it to her in a bottle which is fine but time consuming! Today the midwife suggested trying nipple shields so I tried them tonight but I couldn't get it to stay on. She was sucking it so if I can get it to stay I think it might work! How do I get them to stay on???

What ones are you using hun? I use medela shields which are the only ones advised by midwives & I find the best way to keep them on is to wet a cotton ball and wet the areola around the nipple and then put it on. Like I said I exclusively use nipple shields so any questions just ask!

I used the medela ones for 18 months with first daughter and held them on with thumb and finger.

This might sound gross but it worked for me... I licked them lol, a little bit of saliva helps! Obviously not a full on drool lmao  x

I just have some silicon ones from boots. I tried to stick them with the lanisoh nipple gel but everytime baby sucked it came off! I will keep trying though because I think it's the only way I'll get her to latch on.
