How bizarre.. anyone good with computers?

Yesterday my computer kept coming up with error messages telling me to back up all files as failure may be imminent. Well it lasted all day yesterday fine. Today I haven't had any error messages except when I turn my computer on it says same thing and I just have to click F1 and it boots up fine. It says Hard disk failure.. anyone any ideas what is up with it?

my resident geek says it could be number of things...either a short circuit, a reset bios or even the battery on the mother board is about to bite the dust... but he'd need to see the comp to be sure and being 2000miles away makes it a tad difficult sorry

Thanks, i'm not even sure why I asked cos I understood nothing of your reply. Not your fault but I haven't a clue about technical things. Aww well I think I might get OH to buy me a new one this one can go under the bed with the other one i haven't bothered fixing Thanks though
